Relationship Matters

The relationships we build with our students matter. They allow us to know who our students are, what they need, and how we can best support them. But this is a two-way street. What we put into our relationship with our students comes back to us in the form of student engagement. Let's make a difference

Individuality matters

I liked the video of the students explaining themselves...It's very true that students each have a different way of learning. Each does not have to conform to the norm...I don't mean disrupting the class but as the child said if he needs to move in his chair it should be ok. A believe a child does have some inner awareness of what works for him/her. We should respect their self awareness as well as they should respect the teacher's management of the class. The current trend of teaching and problem solving fosters the that independent thinking. Even with individuality we can and should have mutual respect so the classroom becomes positive safe and fun place to be.

Expectations

Each child and teacher have expectations on what he or she is either teaching or learning. Sometimes a teacher may have higher expectations than the age of the child is capable of. With limitations in mind it is important to keep these expectations as as diversified as possible.

Student Engagements

Motivating students is one of the major challenges teachers face on a daily basis. It's important that teachers recognize and enhance each student mental and physical stability as well as themselves. Having students engage in relaxing and physically activities can relieve the stress from the students and build a positive student-teacher relationship.

It is important to build a caring relationship with our our students. They need to know that we are here for them. Then they will be comfortable and willing to participate in class. Motivating students is an important challenge of a teacher. Knowing and respecting the limitations of our students is one way to achieve success in the classroom.

Teachers may leave students alone if administrators viewed their tendencies as an "okay" way to learn. If they want to slouch, look around or rock, as long as it is okay with administrators and won't be held against the teacher- I think it is fine as long as the student is growing. Relationships with students are important and there are small ways to make an effort to be involved in their daily interests. I am all in for that! These students are our future and depend on us! <3

It is important to let the kids know about yourself, some of your personal life. It helps to create an open relationship. It is more important, for the kids to open up to keep a two way street. It builds stronger relationships and builds trust

It is important that teachers are supportive of students' needs and are aware of their limitations, however, teachers must also challenge students and assist them in learning to deal with their struggles.

As we meet our students we build a rapport. Students are unique and we should respect their uniqueness. Getting to know them is essential if we want to see them blossom as most do.

10 min Daily Classroom meetings are a great way to build relationships with students as learners, individuals and community members of a classroom . It gives us all a chance the feel a part and also connect to outside communities. It is important to take the time to connect on a personal level with all our students and help them connect to their families, school and community.

Learning is only possible when our students feel safe and trust, not only within the classroom environment, but with the school community as well. Once this is established, only then can true effective learning occur. Students are attentive and on task only when such feelings are present. Student engagement is possible when students are challenged and take pride in their work. It is imperative to know that student engagement begins with educator and student relationship.

Developing positive relationships between teachers and students has a positive, significant, and long-lasting impact on the students’ lives, both academically and socially. A student would work better in class if they felt that their teacher valued and cared for them. We all would want to feel loved and cared for, and so do students. They feel valued if the teacher not only cares about their grades but also their well-being and social life.

The relationships we build with our students are vital when it comes to their learning. As we hear time after time, students learn more when they like their teacher. When students feel loved and supported by their teachers they build a deeper love for learning. They are excited to participate and share their learning. When students feels this way, their educational opportunities become limitless.

We must build relationships with our students, so we know what each individual child needs in order to be successful. What works for one child may not necessarily work for another. Allowing movement throughout the school day is important for all children!

Every class session and interaction with our students is an opportunity to make a connection through which we may learn more about them (and vice versa). I love the idea of asking students, "What does your brain need right now?" What a great way to help students identify what best supports their learning.

It is important to build respectful relationships with our students. As our students develop their trust in us, their learning ability is limitless.

Respecting a student and meeting them on their level, builds their self esteem and a foundation for them to achieve higher.

We have to take into account the needs of each individual student. We have to understand that all children learn at a different pace and in a different way. We need to give our students more opportunities to stretch and move around. We should make sure that all students are comfortable. I know that I do my best work when I am comfortable.

Showing students that we are real people makes them feel more comfortable being around you. Treating students with respect will have then respect you more because they don't feel as inferior.

Developing positive teacher student relations is key! Students want to feel cared and valued by their teachers. Students will recall how you made them feel long after they leave your classroom. Positive teacher-student relationships, draw students into the process of learning and promote the desire to learn in conjunction with engaging lessons that are age appropriate and well matched to students’ skills.

As much as we want students to all behave and act the same way, everyone is different and we can’t expect the same from everybody. All students have a different form of learning as well as processing information. As teachers we should always be looking for ways to make lessons fit a wide range skills and learning styles
