Colvin, 15 at the time, was taken away and was scared the police officers were going to rape her. She volunteered with her local chapter of NAACP, where Rosa Parks also worked. Parks also refused to get off the bus when asked to move after hearing Colvin's story, and the NAACP made Parks the face of the campaign due to her popularity among the local white people, her lighter skin, and her older age.

She explains that feminism has become a "bad word" but the idea is still very important. She also explains why men also need to be invited into the conversation. They should not be excluded from the conversation of gender equality because they also have struggles that aren't always addressed. This speech is important because it addresses the inequality on both sides and who we don't always include men even though they have their own struggles. That we need a world that has equality, not a world where there's one gender above the other. - Diana Miller-ter Kuile

The Hyde amendment blocks Medicaid from covering safe and legal abortions to women. There are some exceptions in cases of rape and maternal demise if the pregnancy continues. Medicaid cannot cover an abortion even if advised by a doctor due to this amendment. Unfortunately this is an example of the government deciding what a women can and cannot do with her body.
- Keighly Carey
