Following El Greco's Paths. The Heritage of a Universal Painter by Sofia Svarna

During the academic year 2023-2024, four Clubs of our school planned and realized the project "Following El Greco's Paths. The Heritage of a Universal Painter" incuding presentations, musical anf theatrical performances, and workshops. During the project we visited Toledo, Segovia and Madrid, thus following El Grecos' Paths from Renaissance Crete (Regno di Candia) to Renaissance Spain.

Οι τέσσερις όμιλοι του σχολείου, Όμιλος Εικαστικών, Όμιλος Θεάτρου, Όμιλος Μουσικής και Όμιλος ‘Πάμε Μουσείο’ κατά το σχολικό έτος 2023-2024 υλοποιήσαμε διαθεματικό πρότζεκτ με τίτλο «Στα Ίχνη του Ελ Γκρέκο» σχεδιάζοντας και υλοποιώντας παρουσιάσεις, εργαστήρια, θεατρικά και μουσικά δρώμενα, αλλά και αφήγηση εικαστικού παραμυθιού δια ζώσης ή με ψηφιακά μέσα. Στο πλαίσιο της δράσης την περίοδο 3-7 Μαρτίου 2024 πραγματοποιήσαμε εκπαιδευτική επίσκεψη στην Μαδρίτη-Σεγκόβια-Τολέδο παρακολουθώντας την πορεία του Ελ Γκρέκο από τον ελληνικό χώρο της ενετοκρατούμενης Κρήτης προς την αναγεννησιακή Ισπανία.

During our stay in Spain, our pupils in collaboration with their teachers, offered workshops, presentations and artistic performances for pupils of La Gaviota Primary School, as well as for those of the Greek Language Department (both in Madrid). We also visited Museo El Prado and Museo Reina Sofia, where we admired some of the most emblematic paintings of El Greco.

Μαθητές και των τεσσάρων ομίλων, μαζί με τις υπεύθυνες εκπαιδευτικούς, κα Δήμητρα Βάντζου, κα Ευαγγελία Γεώργα Διευθύντρια του σχολείου μας, κα Σοφία Σβάρνα και κα Κορωνάκη Δέσποινα, έκαναν παρουσιάσεις των εργασιών των ομίλων τους, αλλά και εικαστικό εργαστήριο, αφήγηση, θεατρικό και μουσικό δρώμενο στο ισπανικό δημοτικό σχολείο «La Gaviota» καθώς και στον Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Μαδρίτης GREMA - Τμήμα Ελληνικής Γλώσσας για Ισπανούς και Έλληνες μαθητές της Μαδρίτης, αντίστοιχα.

Επιπλέον, ακολουθώντας τα ίχνη του Ελ Γκρέκο, επισκεφτήκαμε την πόλη Τολέδο, τόπο κατοικίας του Έλληνα ζωγράφου Δομήνικου Θεοτοκόπουλου, αλλά και σε σημαντικά μουσεία της Μαδρίτης όπως το El Prado και το Reina Sofia, προκειμένου να θαυμάσουμε από κοντά μερικά από τα σπουδαιότερα αλλά και εμβληματικότερα έργα του.

The Music Club is dedicated to all direcions of the global musical phenomenon, either by playing and studying music, by doing music research, or by creating our own radio shows.

This year we explored El Greco's era through music, following El Greco's route from Crete, to Italy and then Spain.

The Art Group designed, organized and implemented an Art Workshop at La Gaviota Spanish School for Spanish students, and also narrated the story of El Greco's life and artistic creation through an Art Tale.

The group "Let's go to the Museum" aims to bring students together with all forms of art, history and culture. Visits to museums, historical narratives, knowledge quizzes adapted to the students' curriculum, help them to get to know aspects of culture in alternative ways. In this context, the project was created on the life and work of the great Greek artist, El Greco, following his path in Italy and Spain, where he excelled and became a global artist, influencing contemporary and later painters up to the 20th century.
