Jack creates a group of his own, and becomes chief, however the way he rules and the way his tribe interacts differs greatly from that of Ralph’s. Ralph’s group was peaceful, and more of a democracy- exemplified by the fact that each boy in his group could claim the shell and speak his own opinions. Not as strictly run, Ralph attempted to assign his group to different tasks, but many would not completely follow through. Jack’s group from the beginning was very militaristic and fueled mostly by fear. When Jack manages to control his own group, he creates a hierarchy, and demands to be treated like a king. He hides behind a mask and kills human and animal alike without remorse. These two groups both are run on a basis of innocence and ignorance, yet they differ greatly

To be perfectly honest, barely any of the ideas in this book seemed like good ones, especially because they led to a group of innocent boys becoming insane and turning into ignorant murderers. However, the one successful idea that drove a lot of conflict in this book, but also ended up saving the boys was the smoke signal. I may think of incorporating something like that into my society in order to let others that may be out there know there are other survivors. It could possibly backfire but🤷🏻‍♀️
In addition, i would incorporate something along the lines of the shell so everyone could get an equal chance to speak and be heard.

Early in the book, Ralph and Piggy find a conch shell on the beach and used it to call for others. This at first is a symbol of unity, which is vital in a government to be successful. The conch shell was used as a microphone both figuratively and literally, when at an assembly one has the floor when they are holding the conch shell. At the beginning of the book, when the "two tribes" had an assembly, Ralph and Jack both want to be the leader of the groups. Instead of other methods, the "two tribes" resort to the civilize method of a democracy in voting for a leader. Later in the book, we see that Jack's group, the hunters, are developing rebellious characteristics when they are starting to follow Jack rather than Ralph.

We see at the beginning of the book, an assembly to call an order was working, but this method is losing its grip of the kids when Jack is pulling them away from an assembly and instead to only listen to him rather than the "chief", Ralph. Lacking authority, Ralph is beginning to lose his role as "chief" and is not standing up to keep his role as the leader in which means that the assembly method is not working. Jack's hunting group is working in the way they are gathering food.

The only thing that really worked was the conch shell. as the kids stayed on the island more, the more savage they became, prompting them to loose any kind of civilian aspects and allowing Ralph to lose control of his people and also the power. The littleuns became distracted, and the ones in charge of the fire often forgot to maintain it.
