         <description><![CDATA[<div>The colonists did not have self rule in the colonial period because the British government was still controlling them in some shape or form. We can see that in the salutary neglect policy that the British were enforcing laws and regulation less strictly. Throughout later years, the British were seen restricting colonial trade and their production which showed the lack of colonial decisions.Though the British were being more lenient, they still had power, they just decided not to enforce it and when they did enforce their power, they left the colonists with lack of self rule.</div>]]></description>
