The End Speech and Changing Views

At the end of the movie, after winning the fight, Rocky makes a speech. He says that before coming to Russia, he didn't like the people very much and they didn't like him. But over the course of the fight, they started seeing each other as people. Towards the end of the Cold War, Reagan started to change his views on the Soviet Union. He realized that they didn't understand each other, and met with Gorbachev as just people, like Rocky could now see the Russians as the people they are. It showed how tje war could end, Rocky saying, "If I can change and you can change, everybody can change."

Throwing and Overthrowing

During the big ending fight between Drago and Rocky, Drago take his promoter by the neck, and says to him "I fight for me, not you" and throws him into the crowd like he is nothing. This reflects the revolutions in the USSR, which saw the end of their government and the start of the Soviet Republic. Drago's promoter represents the USSR and how their people did not like them and overthrew them, like Drago quite literally throwing his promoter.

The Press Conference and Goverments

At the press conference before Rocky and Drago's fight, both men's promoters speak for them. They were very hostile towards each other, yelling insults like Nicoli saying"It's all lies and false propaganda to support this antagonistic and violent government." and Paulie saying "We don't keep our people behind a wall with machine guns." The whole time, Rocky and Drago are silent and civil. This represents how in the United States and Russia, the governments were speaking for the people but not in the way they wanted them to. For example, Reagan wanted to "spend Russia into oblivion" while the American people wanted to stop fighting. Both countries were very angry while the people living there just wanted for the war to be over and for everyone to get along, like how Rocky didn't want to fight Drago.
