A contemporary theory of intelligence suggested by Howard Garner identified visual-spatial, interpersonal and other aspects as components of intelligence. He suggested that intelligence is multi-faced, it is not limited to a single general ability. Intelligence is much more than just a rigid IQ score, I think it also takes into account EQ, creativity and other aspects beyond academic performance.

Naz

I think a teacher’s expectation greatly influence the intelligence of students because intelligence is not gifted but is achieved in a process, if teachers focus more on certain students, they get nurtured to become more clever than those who get neglected.

Personally, I think the theory of multiple intelligences is relatively comprehensive. It is influential in the sense that it has great significance on altering teachers’ attitudes towards teaching. Rather than asking “how smart are students?”, it is more important to acknowledge that pupils have different kinds of talents, skills and knowledge (which are all intelligence) and the question should be “how are learners intelligent?”. In such case, teachers will be focusing on the acquired intelligence of the students and continue to nurture them to help them thrive for their very best.

I think the theory of multiple intelligences by Gardner best explain intelligence because it regards intelligence as a multifaceted concept and it acknowledges that there are different type of intelligence instead of just IQ. It helps me as teachers to identify different students' potential and development their strengths.

The theory of multiple intelligences proposed by Howard Gardner. He proposed that there are various types of intelligences, including linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic intelligences. This theory refused the single assessment or aspect of determining people’s intelligences, considering everyone as an individual with his/her own characteristics. This theory evaluate our intelligence in a holistic way.

In this theory, intelligence is divided into different categories, namely analytical, practical, and creative. So, this theory does not just say that if you get good grades, you’re intelligent but rather focuses on how a person is able to apply what they have learnt in their daily life.

I think the above theory explains multiple intelligence the best because it describes different ways student learns and acquire information. These multiple intelligence range from the use of words to different context . It emphasises on instead of asking how intelligent are students the question becomes how are students intelligent. This theory suggests that assessment should be diverse and encompass a broader range of intelligences.

Safwana

The multiple intelligence theory could better explain intelligence since it focuses on different aspects of intelligence work collaboratively to solve problems. The theory also addresses multiple aspects of intelligence (e.g., psychology, biology, literature, history, mathematics and arts). This could effectively evaluate one’s intelligence in various aspects in a more comprehensive manner, compared to other theories.
