"There are three things extremely hard: steel, a diamond, and to know one's self."–Benjamin Franklin. Hi! I am Jermelyn Noynay but my friends call me Melyn. Born on the 3rd day of April, year 2003. I'm currently residing in Brgy. Cogon Proper, Tuburan Cebu. A second-year student taking up Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management at Cebu Technological University Tuburan Campus. To be very honest, this program wasn’t my first choice, not even the second or third. When I was in junior high school, my biggest dream was to become someone like my cousin. I wanted to take up Bachelor of Science in Accounting but because of some circumstances, I couldn’t. But in the long run, I’ve learned to enjoy and appreciate the knowledge and skills that I’ve acquired. I’ve always had a passion for cooking, and I enjoy it very much. As I am the only girl in our household, it’s always me who is assigned to do the chores and that includes cooking. A trivia about myself is that I grew up in a very lively household since I grew up with men around my age surrounding me. And because I am the unica hija, there are expectations that I must meet or even exceed. All those expectations helped me to learn to depend on myself and do things on my own.

My Biggest Fear

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail." ― Confucius. There are a lot of things that I fear. I fear cockroaches, horror movies and heights. But what I fear the most is failing. Growing up, I’ve always had this notion that there is no room for failure for me. I always know this; that I don’t have the privilege to fail in life, not even once and not even the slightest, because there’s no one that can help me get back on track but myself. I always feel like I’m constantly competing in life, like I should cope-up with everything and I should always be at my best, even if I don’t feel like it because if I don’t, then I’ll fail. I’m afraid of failing those who are expecting great things from me and letting them down. I’m afraid to not live the life that I’ve always wanted for myself and for the people that I love. I am afraid that there might be a time that I will fail in things that I love doing. I guess that’s why I’m afraid of failing. Because failing myself also means that I failed the people who supported me, cheered for me, prayed for me, and hoped with me. And that would even hurt more than the thought that I failed myself.

What keeps me going?

“Never give up hope. All things are working for your good. One day, you'll look back on everything you've been through and thank God for it.”
― Germany Kent. My brothers are one of the reasons why I keep moving and continue striving in life. The life that I want them to have and experience. The dreams and plans that I have for myself and for the people that I love. The thought of living a comfortable life without them worrying about anything else but living life to the fullest. I want my brothers to experience the life that I would want for myself right now and so I will give my very best to give it to them. So, I guess, what keeps me going is the thought that everything will be worth it in time. That all those things that have had to happen will make sense and that everything will be worthwhile. And that someday I will be able to make those plans and dreams come true. And I know I am going to, not in a very smooth and easy way but I know myself that I will get there. I will achieve the life that I want, and I will make every sacrifice, and struggle worthwhile. I know I can and so I will.
