This book would be useful to show kids how creativity can help strengthen their community and those around them, and how art can be used in such a beautiful way. The illustrations help show the dramatic transition of the little girl's neighborhood before and after her influence is visible. This book may require some additional explanation from the teacher, making it appropriate for grades 2-4.

This is a great book to show kids that they may not think they want to do something, but they may actually enjoy it after giving it a try. The illustrations are extremely engaging for little ones. This story is ideal for grades 1-3 when reading and being assessed becomes crucial. The text is moderately complex with detailed illustrations.

Her city is experiencing gentrification and they rely on their relationship with each other. The father teaches the little girl all about his motorcycle and its parts both in English and Spanish. This is a great book that features both English and Spanish vocabulary that would be ideal for 2-4 graders because of its more advanced themes such as gentrification and words in more than one language. The illustrations are detailed and do a great job of explaining each scene.

This book shows a great lesson on acceptance of those around you, no matter their wealth or status. It is important to make all people feel welcome and loved. This is a great classroom resource and an entire unit could be dedicated to this book, including the movie. Because of the complex illustrations and themes, I would recommend this to grades K-5.

He misbehaves and interrupts not only the teacher, but disrupts other students as well. This book has detailed illustrations but simple wording, making it ideal for K-2, especially when modeling to the student appropriate classroom behaviors.

She personifies them all and this would be a great lesson in giving things sentimental value and personification.
This book has detailed illustrations and more complex themes that would be appropriate for grades 3-4.

This book would be extremely useful in showing the differences between animals and the way they interact with each other while also showing that familial bond that exists within them, similar to ours. This book has simple illustrations and simple themes, but can teach kids the differences between certain animals. I would recommend this for grades K-1.

They explain how much love they have for their child and how excited they are to get to know them and to see them flourish. The teacher would have to be careful to ensure that children from non-traditional families (raised by grandparents, single parents, etc) would not be saddened by this text so it may be best for reading circles with the teacher reading it aloud. This book has detailed illustrations and more complex themes making it appropriate for K-5.

This includes her neighbor, the new girl, and people she doesn't;t know. This book is great for teaching kids how to be kind and just how far a bit of kindness can go and what it means to people. This book would be great for grades 1-5 as it has simple illustrations but the themes can be applicable among a large group.
