If there’s a member of Congress that is up for re election and isworthy of it, porking can supply them with an incumbency advantage as well. The  idea of  reward for   teamwork encourages cooperation and social interference between the people.
The public will be more involved as it gives  money  to locals to which can so work on projects and issues each state is facing  and  working on. The ideas and projects from the states need workers ,as they idealistically supply more jobs to create a work force. What benefits the states ,benefits the people living there, that  motivates themselves and incentivizes teamwork. 
Ultimately the people seek only benefits from the idea of  PORK.

While pork barrel maybe seen as a form of bribe or corruption, it can help local communities extensively. The extra funding can be used to pave way for better infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, ultimately creating new job opportunities. It could also personally provide financial assistance to those in need, wether it's a poor farmer or a student on financial aid.

As James Miller says, " it's outragous that you've got to have such political payoffs to get Congress to do the nation's business"; the projects in pork are supposed be executed by the congressmen because they are beneficial to the communities that they represent. Making these projects "political payoffs" can hold up their processes and decrease the government's efficiency. Furthermore, pork is a form of corruption and patronage, which is what we try to prevent in today's political system. It causes shady relationships to build among those who govern and prevent those who are more capable and diligent from better serving the people. Therefore, to enable  the govenment to run faster, we need to cut off the fat and stop consuming pork.

The major problem with pork is that it isn't democratic. The entire idea of America's economy is free market, and large government involvement defeats the purpose. American taxpayers fund most of the governmets projects, so the fact that the government needs to pay private business to work under them is irrational.
