I really enjoyed being able to learn about something which might be able to help me as well as my peers. Mental health is just as important as physical health. It was actually shocking to learn how many of my classmates have either experienced mental health issues or have someone close to them who has.

We completed a variety of activities and assessments including an assignment. It was really interesting to try to apply this aspect of mathematics to the real world especially in relation to bacteria in the past, present and future. I'm very interested in how the brain and brain chemistry can cause physical and behavioral symptoms and how these are diagnosed and treated.

One of our assessment tasks was to create an informative brochure designed for patients and families. The challenge was to provide essential information and advice using accessible language.

I chose to focus on Borderline Personality Disorder because I know someone who has been affected by it and have seen how difficult this has been for family and friends. I learned a great deal about this disorder and feel better to support a friend or family member who might have to deal with it.

We learned about the transmission and treatment of diseases such as Malaria. It was shocking to learn how dangerous this disease can be, especially some parts of the world and how important it is to not only treat it effectively, but prevent its transmission in the first place.

I had to give an oral presentation on a transmissible disease. I chose the Zika virus because of its sudden and catastrophic appearance in countries such as Brazil.

One of my favourite ones would have to be for year 12 Chemistry - Aspirin Synthesis. I love working in the labs at La Trobe. They are very professional and inspiring. It's always interesting to have the teaching guidance of additional educators from the university which includes uni students.
