Ben Ratliff's argument on repetition and length is that repetition is a "smart Psychological operation" that makes you focus on "all that is non-repetitive." This argument is true because the brain is trained to focus on patterns, repetition, and all that doesn't fall into those two categories. While it is a true argument, it is also a strong argument because it is based off of scientific knowledge which supports this fact. Ben Ratliff uses a few songs (all of which I couldn't force myself to listen to) to attempt to make his point. Eventually, those songs became so annoyingly repetitive that I couldn't bear to listen to them much longer. His argument did stand true, though. I was focusing on those things that were not repetitive, so I must agree with his argument. He also states that a long song is healthy as well, but I don’t know if I agree with that statement. If you take a long and repetitive song, and over play it, it will go down as the worst song to ever exist.
