The were exploring because they had found a new county. And the purpose was them try to find new things.

What were some of the challenges?
Some dogs had deid they had to get lots of food and water when James Cook came it was hard.

How did they overcome the challenges?
They had to get use to losing a dog. They would have to try really hard to get food and water. And with James Cook coming they would have to try really hard to get away or they had to fight.
