The reason why deviance is so big in football is because if it works it allows their team to gain an advantage by conning the referee. Another reason in why this is happening is because the punishment is too little as it is only a yellow card and if it increased to a red card then it will make less people dive due to a punishment that would leave them out of the next three games in all competitions, so it could make them miss big games that they would usually want to be involved in, this means the risk is too big to continue diving. Since the women will have not wanted to lose their potential career in gymnastics they would not have come forward.
