         <title>January 17, 1811- The Battle of Calderon Bridge</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The battle was fought during the Mexican War on the banks of the Calderon River. the Spanish troops succeeded in delaying the patriots at war, as well as slowing the cause of mexico's independence. The battle marked the end of the first stage of war and is remembered by the soldiers who fought with passion, instead of strategy and anger. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This event occurred in the morning when Miguel Hidalgo rang the bell of his Catholic Church. After he rang the bell he announced the pronunciamiento (a military rebellion) towards the other countries in the Mexican War. This cry for independence marked the start of the Mexican War of Independence day, as well as Mexico's Independence Day. </div>]]></description>

         <title>May 20, 1520- The Temple Massacre</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Massacre took place in Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, which is now present day Mexico City. The Aztecs asked Pedro de Alvarado to hold the Feast of Toxcatl and he allowed it. Once the celebration began, Alverado ordered his men to kill almost every person who attended the festival. In return, thousands of Aztec nobles were murdered with no defense. </div>]]></description>

         <title>May 5, 1892- The Battle of Puebla</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This battle was fought by the French and Mexican during the French's Second intervention in mexico, near the city of Puebla. The French Army planned to march into Mexico and collect all of their debt, but were stopped by the heroic Mexican Army. The French were defeated and Mexico created the holiday "Cinco de Mayo" as  result of this battle. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This revolution kicked off as dictator, Porfiro Diaz, was elected to power in Mexico's 1910 elections. Francisco Madero lost to Diaz and went to the US for help. He called on Mexican's to help overthrow Diaz's position in power, which marked the beginning of the Mexican Revolution on November 20.</div>]]></description>

         <title>June 23, 1914- The Battle of Zacatecas</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This battle is known to be the bloodiest battle in the campaign to overthrow the president of Mexico, Victoriano Huerta. Huerta attempted to send troops to the town of Zacatecas, but his men could not defeat the Rebels. The Rebels decisively won, which resulted in a clear path to Mexico city and the downfall of Huerta.</div>]]></description>

Obrador finished the election with 31 out of the 32 states of Mexico's votes. This has been the most states won by a president in Mexico, since the candidate, Ernesto Zedillo, who won every state in the election of 1994.  </div>]]></description>
