This includes eight planets, their moons, dwarf planets, comets, asteroids, and meteoroids. The solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago from a giant molecular cloud.</p><p><br></p><p>Key Aspects of Each Planet:</p><ol><li><p><strong>Mercury</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Closest planet to the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Smallest planet in the solar system.</p></li><li><p><strong>Surface:</strong> Rocky with many craters, similar to the Moon.</p></li><li><p><strong>Temperature:</strong> Extremely hot during the day and extremely cold at night.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> None.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Venus</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Second planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Similar in size and structure to Earth.</p></li><li><p><strong>Atmosphere:</strong> Thick with clouds of sulfuric acid, primarily composed of carbon dioxide.</p></li><li><p><strong>Surface:</strong> Volcanic with many mountains and highland regions.</p></li><li><p><strong>Temperature:</strong> Hottest planet due to a runaway greenhouse effect.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> None.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Earth</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Third planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Fifth largest planet.</p></li><li><p><strong>Atmosphere:</strong> Nitrogen and oxygen-rich.</p></li><li><p><strong>Surface:</strong> 70% covered with water; diverse climates and geological features.</p></li><li><p><strong>Life:</strong> The only planet known to support life.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> One (the Moon).</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Mars</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Fourth planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> About half the size of Earth.</p></li><li><p><strong>Surface:</strong> Red due to iron oxide (rust) on its surface; features include the largest volcano and canyon in the solar system.</p></li><li><p><strong>Atmosphere:</strong> Thin, mostly carbon dioxide.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> Two (Phobos and Deimos).</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Jupiter</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Fifth planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Largest planet in the solar system.</p></li><li><p><strong>Composition:</strong> Gas giant primarily made of hydrogen and helium.</p></li><li><p><strong>Features:</strong> Great Red Spot (a massive storm), many moons.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> At least 79, including the largest moon in the solar system (Ganymede).</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Saturn</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Sixth planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Second-largest planet.</p></li><li><p><strong>Composition:</strong> Gas giant mainly composed of hydrogen and helium.</p></li><li><p><strong>Rings:</strong> Known for its extensive and prominent ring system made of ice and rock particles.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> At least 82, including Titan, which is larger than Mercury.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Uranus</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Seventh planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Third-largest planet.</p></li><li><p><strong>Composition:</strong> Ice giant with a composition of hydrogen, helium, and methane (which gives it a blue color).</p></li><li><p><strong>Tilt:</strong> Unique for its extreme axial tilt, rotating on its side.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> At least 27.</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Neptune</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Position:</strong> Eighth planet from the Sun.</p></li><li><p><strong>Size:</strong> Fourth-largest planet.</p></li><li><p><strong>Composition:</strong> Ice giant with a composition similar to Uranus.</p></li><li><p><strong>Features:</strong> Known for its strong winds and storms, including the Great Dark Spot.</p></li><li><p><strong>Moons:</strong> At least 14, with Triton being the largest.</p></li></ul></li></ol>]]></description>
