This was because white people didn't want to mingle with black people. So black people couldn't go to the same places as white people(swimming pools, motels etc...).
Black people weren't allowed access to equal justice. They couldn't do things like white people because the Jim Crow laws were legalized . However in 1960 the civil right movement started to stop racism.
Rosa Parks was the symbol of the civil right movement . She was born in 1913 in Alabama and died in 2005 at 92 years old. She was a seamstress. Her family was a family of slaves who worked for a white family.
In 1844 she was married to John Tubman, a free black man, but she escaped with her two brothers because of their fear of being sold. Moreover they had to return to their family because they were worried, and when she returned to her husband, he had already found another wife, so they divorced in 1951 and Harriet went to Canada, and in the winter of 1852 she went back to Maryland.
In 1852 at 1857 she made eleven trips between Maryland and Canada to save a lot of slaves, she even took a gun to threaten them when they were discouraged, they weren’t allowed to give up with Harriet.

Before, black people couldn’t be free and they were forced to obey a master and to do back-breaking tasks. and they were beaten if they didn’t work hard. The Northern states were against slavery while the Southern states were for slavery. Lincoln led the nation through the American Civil War. At the end, the Northern states won and finally, Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, black people could be free. But sadly, he was assassinated in Washington in 1865, when he was 56 years old, he was shot and killed. To conclude, I think Abraham Lincoln was a very nice person that inspired many people.

He was a black man’ a minister and a leader of the Civil Rights movement.
He was born in 1929 in Alabama, in Georgia. His father ans his grandfather were Baptist ministers. after being a minister in 1954, he supported Rosa Parks in the case of buses. Martin Luther King fought for the end of segregation and a justice between black people and white people. First he organized a boycott for 381 days on buses then, the 28th August 1963, he spoke his famous speech where he explained his dreams, « I have a dream ». He was married to Coretta Scott (he met Coretta in Boston University) and he had 4 children with her. The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Martin Luther King. he was the youngest man to sin this prize and Jim Crow laws were abolished. he hoped his children could live in a just world.
In 1968, he was assassinated by a white man. Before his assassination’ he started a campaign for the war with Vietnam and the degregation.
To sum up, Matin Luther King is a symbol of liberty for black people and their stories. He changed the lives pf black people. Matin Luther King was a hero.

Rosa Parks was born the 4th February 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. In Alabama racial segregation was very common and Rosa Parks discovered it when she was a child. She was obliged to go to her school on foot because the school bus didn’t accept black people.
She met her husband, Raymon Parks, in 1932 and they were married the same year. She joined the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in Montgomery. After some years, she became a seamstress and one day, 1st December 1955, she took a bus and didn’t move to leave her place to a white man. She was arrested and had to spend two or three days in prison. The same year a boycott was organised by Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks was the poster girl of this boycott, with this action the voters who supported civil rights increased.
She co-founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks institute which helps with self development and to educate young people on civil rights.
In an interview, she explained : “ People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired ... the only tired I was, was tired of giving in”
Rosa Parks died 24th October 2005 and she received more than 200 honours.
To sum up Rosa Parks was a peaceful activist, she was awesome, a hero for some people, the face of the movement. Five days later, she lets the pastor (Martin Luther King) who did with her a bus boycott for three hundred and sixty days and some demonstrations .
One of her most popular sentences is : « you must never be afraid of what you do if you do what is right ».
She was a very kind and honest woman, she knew what was right and did somethings to change injustice between black and white people at this time: they were divided, they couldn’t go to the restaurant together, they weren’t allowed to be married together’ they couldn’t even go to the same park! Racism was everywhere but hopefully, Rosa Parks changed it and even if there is still racism, she fought all her life to change this and stop dividing black and white people as if they were different: they were all humans.

He was the seventh of the eleven children of Henry and Emma Owens. His grandfather was a slave and was the son of a sharecropper. His father was forced to share his land with other people. They were very poor and were forced to eat little food. Children of sharecroppers weren’t allowed to go to school.
When they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, he worked in a shoe repair shop. One day, when he was playing with his friends, a guy named Charles Riley picked him off the playground onto the the track field because of his athletic abilities. During the 1933 National High Shool Championship in Chicago, he tied the world record of 9.4 seconds for the 100 yard dash and broke the long jump record with 7.56 meters. He started to make a name for himself.
He then participated in the Berlin Olympics and won 4 gold medals! At the time, no black athletes could go to the olympics : he fought for that right. Later on, he was banned from competition at twenty-four years old because of his behavior. He fell into the oblivion.
He came back during the Cold War. President Dwight Eisenhower, aware that the condition of blacks in the United States seriously undermined the message of the « free world », named Jesse Owens the White House representative for the Third World. This status allowed him to exploit his tremendous notoriety for the defense of civil rights denied to blacks in a country which has still largely facing racial segregation : blacks couldn’t have access to white swimming pools, they couldn’t drink in the same water fountans.
To put it in a nutshell, Jesse Owens had a very difficult life but was blessed with amazing athletic abilities and most importantly with hope and determination to make the world a better place.

Rosa Parks worked from 1930 to 1955. She was a seamstress. In 1943 she joined the civil rights movement.
She became famous the first December 1955 in Montgomery as she refused to give her place on a bus to a white man. So she arrested.

After she worked with Martin Luther King to abolish segregation.
In 1980, he received the Peace Nobel prize.

Throughout, Rosa Parks fought against segregation.
To sum up, she was very courageous and a very important woman!

Progress was difficult for her in this segregated work field. As she described it: "Every time we get to the finish line they move it. Every time."
In 1953, she was offered to work with the Polish engineer Kazimierz Czarnecki in the Supersonic Pressure Tunnel (which could generate winds at mach 2). Thanks to his insistance, Mary strived to become an engineer: after a protest, she was able to take graduate-level mathematics and physics classes in the all-white Hampton High School. She passed, making here the first black engineer in the history of NASA in 1958.
After that, she worked in various regions of NASA until 1979. During that time, she fought for minorities such as black women, and is able to make her voice heard in NASA. Mary worked until her retirement and she died 20 years later, in 2005.
To sum up, Mary Jackson's carrer created a legacy of her own, and inspired many other people to take action in the United States. Her story was adapted into a movie called Hidden Figures.
More recently, a satellite named after her was sent into orbit this 6th of November 2020.
Finally, Mary Jackson stood up for her rights, inspiring many others to do so.

Harriet Tubman once said : "Slavery is the next thing to hell".

She became famous on the 1 st September in 1955 because she refused to give up her seat to a white man and she was arrested for this. After 1955 she became the leader of civil rights movement. She fought with Martin Luther King for black peoples and did a lot of peaceful actions for her fight. She said “ you have to live you life trying to be it a role model for others “. In 1980 she was rewarded by Martin Luther King for her fight and what she did for the justice of black people .
To conclude Rosa Parks was a leader of the civil rights movement, she helped to stop racism and won justice of black people. She struggled against segregation.

Rosa parks was born on 4th February 1913 in Alabama, in the USA. She was a seamstress. On 1st December 1955, she just was sitting in a bus, and a white man told her to give her place to him but she refused. She was arrested by the American police and was obliged to pay fiveteen dollars.
Five days later, she lets the pastor (Martin Luther King) who did with her a bus boycott for three hundred and sixty days and some demonstrations .
One of her most popular sentences is : « you must never be afraid of what you do if you do what is right ».
She was a very kind and honest woman, she knew what was right and did somethings to change injustice between black and white people at this time: they were divided, they couldn’t go to the restaurant together, they weren’t allowed to be married together’ they couldn’t even go to the same park! Racism was everywhere but hopefully, Rosa Parks changed it and even if there is still racism, she fought all her life to change this and stop dividing black and white people as if they were different: they were all humans.

There F.A. WASHINGTON changed his name and became Frederick DOUGLASS: it was the advice of his new politics friends, members of the black community, who he met in the Northen States. There F. DOUGLASS joined the Liberator which was an (anti-slavery) newspaper. After 1845, he wrote three autobiographies, but he had to go to the United Kingdom because he was illegaly free. Lots of his new English friends told him to create his own paper and a few month later he became the director of "The North Star".
Some years later F. DOUGLASS returned to America and he was interested in politic. And that's why he later became an ambassador.
After being a slave, a journalist, a sailor, a director, an abolitionalist, and an ambassador, and after he made black people aware of their conditions, he died in 1895 in Washington D.C.

He was arrested because he defended justice it was so unfait!
In 1964, he voted the civil rights act and in 1965 voting right act.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his fight against racial segregation.

The names of Malcolm's parents were Ear Little and Louise Helen Norton Little. Malcolm had 4 brothers and 3 sisters: Wilfred, Hilda, Phibert, Reginald, Yvonne, Francis and Wesley.
When he was a child, his 4 uncle died because people threw rocks at him. His mother didn't like the white people because this mother was physically attacked by a white person. Malcolm was American. In 1929, Malcom's house burned and the whole family moved to Michigan. But, in 1931, Malcom's dad died because he was shocked by a tramway. His wife, Louise Little, suffered from depression between 1937 and 1963.
In school, Malcom was an excellent student but he stopped school because he couldn't be a lawyer. He was a pastor. In 1943, he moved to go to NY and in 1946, after the second world war he was stopped and he went to a state prison on 27th Febuary 1946 because he robbed lots of banks. He was a gangster. When he was in prison, he spoke a lot to Elijah Muhammad, a boy from an association called "nation of Islam". In Febuary 1948, he moved to a different prison in Massachusetts. On 7th August 1952, he was free and he joined the "nation of Islam" (a peacefull association).
In the beginning of 1960, Malcom left Elijah Muhammad because Elijah was an paedophile, and Malcom couldn't accept this. He had 6 children with Betty : Attallah, Qubilah, Ilyasah, Gamilah Lumumba, Malika and Malaak.
When he was in the "nation of Islma", he had a surnam. His surname was Malcom X, the same thing for Betty. Malcom created an association and its name was "Organisation pour l'unité afro-américaine". Malcom helped Martin Luther King fight against racism. Malcom organised a speech for everyone and three men shot twenty-one bullets with a pistol at Malcom. Malcom died on 21th Febuary 1965, in Harlem. This association was stopped in 1965.
