         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ch. 8: Helpful Information<br>Flora thinks that the squirrel is a superhero. She compares him to Alfred T. Slipper, the comic book character who  is from The Illuminated Adventures of the Amazing Incandesto! Mrs. Tickham is overwhelmed with the squirrel's actions. Flora names the squirrel, Ulysses. <br>Ch. 9: The Whole World on fire<br>Flora talks to Ulysses, and he thinks. He is very hungry.<br>Ch. 10:<br>Flora's mother is typing on an old typewriter. She thinks of her parents being divorced. Flora is standing behind her mother, and she walks passed the Shepherdess named Mary Ann. It is lamp which Flora thinks is totally stupid. "You stupid lamp...Mind your own business. Mind your sheep" (pg.30). Flora is very nonchalant.<br>Ch. 11: A Gigantic vat of Incandesto!<br>Flora explains to Ulysses what has happened to him. She tells him he has super powers. "A superhero is someone with special powers, and he uses those powers to fight the forces of darkness and evil. Like Alfred T. Slipper, who is also Incandesto. She shows him the comic book. "When there is a great crisis, when malfeasance is apparent, Alfred turns himself into a righteous pillar of light" (pg. 35).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 12: The Forces of Evil<br>In this chapter we learn more about Flora's dad. He would read comics to Flora. At this thought she thought how lonely she was but quickly covered it up. "A superhero squirrel rested at her feet, so she was not lonely at all" (pg. 37)<br>Chapter 13: The Typewriter<br>The squirrel wakes up and realizes he is hungry, so he decides to go to the kitchen and get food. "The kitchen! That was exactly where  he needed to be." (pg. 40) He spots a bag of Cheese-O-Mania and eats it all. When he was done he saw Flora's mom's typewriter and started to type.<br>Chapter 14: Squirtel!<br>Flora realizes she might be in trouble with her mother because Ulysses is covered in cheese dust. When Flora's mother points to the typewriter, Flora sees Squirtel and "I am. Ulysses.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Ch. 21 Poetry<br>Tootie Tickham has fainted due to the fact that Ulysses writes poetry. William Spiver doubts Ulysses's poetic talents. He tells Flora that the world is a random place. Flora wants William Spiver  to take off his classes. He won't. She thinks he  is Ulysses's arch-nemesis because every super hero has one.  She's about to take off his glasses to find out who he truly is when her mother calls her. Her father is here to take her for the day.          <title>Chapter 22 A Giant Ear</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Flora thought that her father was the loneliest man is the universe. Phyllis and George Shout at one another. Flora becomes rebellious against her mother. She is not going to give up Ulysses. The Criminal Element tells her to  become a Giant Ear and listen very carefully. She is astonished to what she hears.<br>Ch. 23: Enter the Villain<br>Flora's mother, Phyllis, orders George, Flora's father, to put the squirrel out of his misery because he is diseased. She wants George to put him in a sack ,  hit him over the head with a shovel, dig a hole with the shovel, and bury him. "Flora misunderstand that she had made a mistake in thinking that William Spiver was anybody important" (pg. 75). Phyllis Buckman was the arch nemesis.<br>Ch. 24: Stalked, Chased, Threatened, Poisoned Etc.<br>"He should have been shocked but he wasn't, not really" (pg.76). Many dangerous actions had occurred to Ulysses such as he was shot with a BB gun, slingshots, his tail told him that the malfeasanse will be stopped.<br>Ch. 25: Seal Blubber<br>"Nothing was at it seemed" because Flora's mother gave her a shoe box with a comfy blanket to put Ulysses in for the car ride. As they were pulling out of the driveway "There was a murder to stop, a superhero to mentor, villains to vanquish, , darkness to eradicate" (pg. 79). The father stops the car and is introduced to Tootie and William Spiver. Spiver apologizes to Flora for not taking off his glasses, but then tells her, "They've<br>Ch. 26: Spies Don't  Cry<br>Flora thinks her father would make an excellent spy because he side steps questions or responds with questions of his own. He started to cry when Phyllis talks about getting a divorce, and Flora thinks that spies don't cry, but still. Flora  interrogates her father about burying something, when he decides to go to eat.<br>Ch. 27: The World in All Its Smelly Glory<br>The squirrel is happy that he is going to eat soon. He  was a squirrel who was riding in a car with someone he loved, Flora. There are so many smells: just cut grass, trash cans, dirt, fertilizer, dogs etc. He wants to write everything down when Flora tells him, "Keep your eyes open for malfeasance" (pg. 90). <br>Ch. 28: The Giant Do-Nut<br>The Giant Do-Nut is a breakfast and donut shop. Flora refuses to leave Ulysses in the car, and she bring him in with the shoe box. She tells Ulysses, " You are not a doughnut not waiting to be dunked. You are a superhero...Keep an eye on George Buckham" (pg. 93). Chaos ensues.<br>Ch. 29 Cootchie-Coo<br>Flora, her father, and Ulysses (in the box) enter the doughnut shop. Ulysses is in heaven as he is able to read the menu, and he and Flora can order anything they want. Rita, the waitress, begins to take their order. Flora thinks about Marie Antoinette from Terrible Things Can Happen to You. Rita thinks Flora has a baby doll in the Bootsie Box and asks her all about it. Flora scoffs at the waitress as she is a cynic. She tells the waitress that she doesn't have a baby doll, and Rita says, Cootchie Coo. When Rita pokes her pencil into the box, Ulysses is revealed and Rita screams, Ulysses flies out of the box and its "incandesto time" Flora thinks.<br>  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sunny-Side Up<br>Ulysses is truly frightened.  Rita's is a monstrous person. He screams when she screams. Ulysses has flown into Rita's hair. He had never had a giant donut or eggs for that matter. There was a man wearing a white coat wielding a knife. The restaurant became blurry. Flora shouts, "Remember who you are" (pg. 100). He flies!<br>Ch. 31:<br>Holy Unanticipated Occurrences<br>Flora watches Ulysses fly around the restaurant. He doesn't really know what he is doing, but he is flying. Rita is screaming, someone throws a donut at him, and a baby cries. George says, " holy unanticipated occurrences" Flora has not heard that in along time. She asks her father if this malfeasance must be stopped. Since he agrees, Flora trips the cook waving the knife.<br>Ch. 32 Sprinkles<br>Ulysses flies into the glass door and falls. He thinks of donuts and sprinkles. He wonders where Flora is.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Does Rabies Itch?<br>Ulysses's head is bleeding badly. Flora had a sense of deja vu, sinse yesterday she was bending over an unknown squirrel in Tootie's backyard. There was a moment of quiet, the calm before the storm, in the restaurant until someone said, "I think it was a rat, but it was flying and it was in my hair" (pg. 106). Flora decides to blame the whole mishap on Rita. Her father gets involved by saying that calling the cops is idiotic. Rita thinks she has rabies. Ernie states that he is going to call the cops because Flora tripped him. Her father begins to laugh and laugh hysterically, and he can't stop.<br>The Getaway:<br>The getaway was slow. Flora wanted her father to hurry up. Flora worries that Ulysses has a concussion. She became terrified that her superhero might die. Her father promises her that he won't kill Ulysses, and they drive George's apartment.<br>Fear Smells<br>As they arrive at he Bixen Arms which is owned by Mr. Klaus who also has an orange cat name Mr. Klaus. Mr. Klaus prowls the hall and pees on residents' doors and vomits on stairwells. It also scratches the residents' ankles. Mr. Buckman has scars to prove it. "The cat can smell your fear. Flora shouted as she ran. It's a scientific fact" (pg. 111). Her father laughs hysterically and Flora doesn't find it funny because there's a squirrel to save.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Surprise. Anger. Joy<br>"Surprise, anger, joy-that's what exclamation marks were for. They had nothing to do with who resided where. Flora tells her father that a doctor lives her. He tells her he knows, it's Dr. Meescham. Flora tells her dad that she is going to bring Ulysses to him. When Dr. Meescham opens the door, she tells Flora, "Little flower. Flora Belle. Beloved of your father, Mr. George Buckham..." (pg. 115). She yanks Flora into the apartment. The opera music is loud. Flora is quite surprised of the comment, "Beloved? thought Flora. Me?" (pg. 116).<br>Ch. 37 Singing with the Angels<br>Ulysses had a hard time looking away from the giant eye. Ulysses thinks he dead. He could also hear some singing, but he was not afraid. So many things had happened to him that he stopped worrying about everything. Flora starts telling Dr. Meescham what happened to Ulysses like this she could help. Finally, Dr. Meescham says that he is not concussed.<br>Ch. 38: Unremitting Darkness<br><br></div>]]></description>
