In the picture, I can see two children on the bridge of the dragon playground. They are grinning from ear to ear and look euphoric to be playing in the playground. I imagine these kids going to the playground after a long day at school and unwinding as they run around and play various games with one another. I think that adrenaline is pumping through the children's veins as the feel exhilarated while playing. I fondly recall the memories of when I was young and used to go to the playground near my house almost everyday. My favourite part of going to the playground was making new friends and they would teach me new games they knew how to play. I vividly remember this one game we made up and we named it Singapore Ninja Warrior after the show American Ninja Warrior. The playground used to have monkey bars, swings, slides, shaky bridges and a mini zipline. We had to cross the "obstacle" courses and the first one to finish them all would win. However, we had to make sure our feet never touched the playground floor as it was made of "lava". I used to always be the last one to finish the course but that never dampened my mood. All I remember was laughing joyously and having a wonderful time with my friends. I definitely miss those days. All in all, I feel that the playground is a place where friendships are formed and happy memories are built. We cherish these memories and look back at them fondly.

Personally , I feel that the children's are in a mood of enjoyment and excitement . I can assume that this is a scene where perhaps it is a weekend morning where the students are free to visit the playground. They seem to be running along the railing bridge which represents the body of the dragon. I am of the opinion that the children are in a state of contentment and pleasure. The foremost is that the children are smiling with cheerfulness as they are playing at the playground. As the children are able to play at their favourite playground and not be studying at school. Hence, with this small period of freedom , the children are able to appreciate and cherish this moment . This picture reminds me of a time , in primary 6 , when I used to occasionaly visit the the playground in my estate with 3 of my best friends at that time. There was a section of the playground where it was a giant spherical swing which could fit 6 people at max. The 4 of us would often swing there with 1 of us having to push the other 3. After moving out of the estate , I still fondly recall those carefree moments with them at that red swing.

I can see from the picture that there are two children playing at the iconic dragon playground in Toa Payoh. It seems as though they have the entire playground to themselves. The large smiles across their faces show that they are enjoying themselves and their time there. Seeing how cheerful they are really brings me back to when I was a child in a similar situation, playing with my friends at the playground.

Their facial expressions tells me that they are enjoying life, escaping from the hustle and bustle of the city. Usually, after school during my Primary School days, I would go to the nearby parks which has playgrounds to relax and interact with my friends. We played childhood activities such as "The Floor Is Lava" and "Catching". It was a fun and an enjoyable experience when we were young. This made up my childhood by hanging out and socialising with my friends after school.

I could not help but reminisce about my childhood where I would drop by the playground near my house with my friends after school. We would climb up the slides and ropes as well as play cards under the pavilion. In addition, we also help our friends exercise in the fitness corner to keep ourselves fit and healthy. We would make jokes, laugh about it and talk about how the day went. It was an unforgettable childhood memory and I would always miss those joyful times.

From the picture, I think that the children are feeling happy and a sense of thrill, the basic feelings a child will have when they are having fun like just simply building a sand castle, playing on the slides. This reminds me of my childhood where when I was still studying back in Malaysia, I often go out with my cousins to a playground near our house. Even though it is just like every other typical playground, it still has a lot of happy memories there. One of my most memorable experience was that I was playing hide-and-seek with my cousins and at the bushes, we saw a snake! Despite being afraid then, coming to think of it, it was actually a very fascinating experience as it was my first time encountering a snake in real life!
Ending is abrupt; good if you could summarise how these times spent at the playground make up your childhood OR/AND use points from the reading passage to include some benefits of play,e.g. creativity, imagination etc...

From the cheery looks on their faces, they are feeling light-hearted and untroubled. They enjoy being at the playground as playground is a place where children like them are allowed to run freely and not be restricted by their parents. The children in the picture has more freedom to do things they want there and hence, they look happy at the playground. Having a dragon playground located beside my house, I used to play there almost everyday. Until now, I can still vividly remember my experience at playgrounds when I was younger, parents sitting on the metal bench beside and children running wildly up and down. The game ends after all players are caught by the catcher. After school, my friends and I usually meet up at a playground nearby to play the game. We would first have a game of scissors, paper, stone to decide who would be the catcher for this round of the game. After that, the game begins. We would run around tirelessly just to avoid being caught. The game helped us take a break from our school life and also prevented us from using our mobile devices excessively. Playing catching also allowed me and my friends to bond more often as most of us were from different classes and It also allowed me to make more memories to look back on!

In primary school, me and my classmates used to play this game called 'Catching' all the time in school, during recess and even after school has ended. If you didn't know, 'Catching' is basically just tag, with one person being assigned as the 'catcher' and the rest of the players having to avoid him. The 'catcher's goal is to tap another player to pass on the 'catcher' role to them. Usually we would play many rounds of 'Catching' competitively, with many memorable moments being made such as the time when we ran away from prefects after being caught of bringing a cup of milo outside the canteen and running along the corridor with it. As I reminisce of my primary school days, these moments as well as the friendships forged during these 'Catching' sessions made me greater appreciate my primary school friends who have elevated my primary school experience, as well as helping my to unwind and de-stress when my assignments and tasks would pile up.

Explain the 'elevated primary school experience'; unclear here

As a child, I always liked playing a variety of games. From video games to catching to even spelling bees, I was exposed to a ton of games when I was a kid. However, one game which I really liked playing was treasure hunt. Like all the typical treasure hunt games, my kindergarten that I went made my class and I play the game every month or so. Since I'm a very competitive person since I was a child, I would always be very eager and excited to play this game with my fellow friends. In the game of treasure hunt, our teachers would hide items around the class and the whole kindergarten, and we had to find these items before anyone could. Sometimes, the teacher would even level up the challenge and had us play the game at the playground right outside of the kindergarten. The teachers also put up hints and maps to lead us to the items. Personally, I love playing treasure hunt in teams because my friends and I would act like wild monkeys and start running around the whole place to search for the items. The items that the teachers hid would be in a small ball-like container and it would always be in places we would not expect! I remember my teacher hiding the ball right at the side of the principal's room and everyone would be hesitating to enter. This game not only made me more competitive, but had also taught me the importance of teamwork and communication as all of us needed to put on our thinking caps to figure out where the location of the items were. This game gave me a sense of achievement whenever I won the game or when I found an item. If I had the chance to play this game again, I would certainly be up for it.

As a child, i had played many games. But if one came to my mind, it had to be a game where we combined catching and hide-and-seek together. We were given little time to run around the school to look for a good hiding spot, where we have multiple quick escape routes and some small peephole to survey the surrounding for the seeker. And when spotted, we had to run to a new location as fast as possible and not get caught while escaping. And the game ends when the bell rings, signaling the end of recess. To be honest, i was usually forced into this game by my friend but enjoyed it anyway. It has the thrill and fear of being found and not being fast enough than the seeker. I also enjoyed it as the game involve many kinds of tactic and even dirty tricks to capture the hiders. for example, when you spot your target, instead of pointing them out like in the usual hide-and-seek, we need to stealthily approach them before they notice and make a break for it. it makes us use our brain more, thinking of the best way possible to capture them.

Good points; now work on your vocab;
'use our brain more'= creativity /imagination/ assess the situation/ think out of the box etc...

When I was a child, I really enjoyed playing hide and seek and catching with my neighbours. We often play hide and seek at our neighbouring playground, but the most memorable one was when we played catching at our block. Even though all of us got scolded for making too much noise after the game, but it was really interesting and unforgettable. As a child, I do not have a mobile phone to play with, so the only thing that can arouse my interest was to go out and play. Because I was too young to go out alone and my parents are really busy, going out to play was a reward most of the time, so I had always cherish the time I have with my friends.

Qn is not answered; what are the reasons why you like playing hide-and-seek are not given; it can be something about the thrill; suspense; sense of achievement when you finally caught someone?

My parents were going overseas for a business trip and had her came over to our house to take care of my sister and i. She would let us play games on her phone. i still remember the first game i ever played was 'Cut The Rope' it was this game where the player had to cut ropes to drop the candy into this creatures mouth.i would find every opportunity to play it and, considering she was a very nice aunt, i got to play it alot.
Since then, i have been frequently playing video games, be it on the ps4 or on my phone, video games are a huge part of the entertainment of my life and i really enjoyed it as a child and i think it shaped me to be the person i am today
It'd be better if you can explain or elaborate what kind of person video games have shaped you to be

i agree that young people should do activities outside instead of staying in to play computer games or to watch television. Going outside allows for young people to have an adventure with nature, to find out new friends or new hobbies they might like. They can go out to play team badminton, where they invite their friends to play against each other. This builds team bonding as they have to communicate on strategic ways to win. Instead of friends, they can also have a family day where they have a meal in a restaurant or have a picnic and enjoy the view. Going outside does not necessarily mean they have to do physical sports activities. It can simply mean to just enjoy the company of a friend or relative. Going outside allows young people to not be a couch-potato where they sit and play video games all day long. It will give them time to stretch and exercise, while enjoying themselves outside.

On the flip side, staying home to play computer games or watching television is a good thing. There has been researches that sides with young people playing video games. It has been said that it increases the vision of one, where they are see much clearer than those who do not. Young people who play video games are also less distracted, which allows them to focus on school work better than those who do not. These many benefits that follows actually allows young people to do better in school. They are also able to invite their friends or family, or even global friends to play computer games. Computer games such as COD which is an online game where you kill your enemies before they get to you, has a server for online players to communicate. This allows young people to increase their social and even their English, as there are other people who are slightly better.

However, i still agree that young people should go out to do activities outside as it allows them to create stronger bonds among their friends and family, and also find out new hobbies to enjoy, rather than sitting at home alone with the computer. Make the final argument stronger by adding that the benefits of real-life interaction far outweighs than that of online interaction; social skills /communication skills essential for the future

Personally, I would agree that young people should be partaking in outdoor activities more rather than being cooped up in their home playing video games. With technology evolving at an exponential rate, it has made our lives a lot more convenient in many different aspects, and one such aspect is entertainment.

Young people nowadays prefer to stay home and indulge in their electronic devices, such as their mobile phones and computers. There is a plethora of entertainment platforms on the internet, different sites where they air the most trending shows; gaming societies where people can meet up virtually to game; social media platforms where you get to spectate the lives your favourite celebrity going on about their day. With the power to cater to any individual’s needs so effortlessly, it is very easy to cave in let yourself go. If unmoderated, this could lead to a sedentary lifestyle, which is very unhealthy for both the body and mind.

Thus, I think that going outdoors is much better than being cooped up at home using internet. Being able to meet my friends and laugh with then makes life much more enjoyable. It really gives me a break from the stress in my life, and being able to deepen our bonds together and create memories is also a great plus about going outdoors. There are also plenty of health benefits which are brought about when we leave the comfort of our homes and go outdoors. Generally just getting your bodies to move around is a good way to stay healthy, even something like going for a walk at the park will boost your immune system as compared to sitting in front of a screen playing videogames.
Good vocab and clear linking of ideas; it'd be better if you can rope in some recent news/trends e.g. P2HA or personal experiences you have

Personally, I agree with the statement that young people should be encouraged to do activities outside rather than stay indoors playing computer games or watching television. Anxiety, stress, depression, burnout and other mental issues and conditions all start to creep in when we don’t spend sufficient time outdoors.

Doing outdoor activities allows one to reap physical and mental health benefits. For example, doing outdoor activities such as biking, sailing and fishing can help to improve one's physical fitness as it works most of the major muscle groups in one’s body and improves one's overall immune system allowing people to be less susceptible to illnesses.

In terms of mental health, doing outdoor activities lifts up one’s mood and alleviates stress because being outdoors allows us to unwind and relax from the frantic pace of civilization.

However, some people may argue that staying indoors to play computer games or watching television may bring about more benefits than doing outdoor activities. These benefits may include having better social skills and improving one’s vision. Past research has shown that those who played more video games were more likely to have good social skills, perform better academically, and to have built better relationships with other students because of the social and collaborative component to some types of games.

While both sides have good points, it’s clear that the negatives of playing video games far outweigh the positives. Therefore, in my opinion, I strongly agree that young people should be encouraged to do activities outside rather than stay indoors playing computer games or watching television.

Good balance of ideas; Need to include personal examples / experiences

I personally would agree that young people should be encouraged to do activities outside. While gaming can be a fun distraction or hobby, there are health risks that come from too much gaming. Gaming has also been associated with sleep deprivation, insomnia, depression, aggression and anxiety.

Due to the improvement in technology, the majority of the games have gone online and can be easily accessed by teens on computer or mobile. This leads to extensive viewing of the game screen and can lead to eye discomfort, fatigue, blurry vision, and headaches. Large numbers of teens playing are so engrossed in the video game that they forget to take breaks in between, hence negatively affecting their eyesight. This can greatly affect the future of the teen as some jobs require good eyesight such as a pilot and a firefighter. Poor eyesight can also lead to unwanted incidents that may take your life and the people around. Spending more time outdoors can allow the eyes to take a break and not strain from staring at the screen, which is beneficial for everyone living in this digital world.

Staying at home also causes the teens to be less social. Though they are able to make online friends and interact with them, few teens are able to actually interact face-to-face. They will find it hard and awkward to interact on a daily basis especially with strangers. Playing video games can decrease the bond between family members, creating a wall between each other. It also causes emotional problems and even leads to young people committing acts of violence towards friends and relatives. If they are able to go out and spend more time with friends and family, you can create more memorable memories that can never be achieved just from playing video games at home. You are able to share your burden and trouble easily since you are able to trust them more which is good for your well being.

Though video games do bring about many disadvantages, I am actually more fond of staying at home compared to going out and doing activities. Due to long periods of going to school and studying, it is actually good for students to have a relieving factor such as playing video games or watching television to relieve their stress. It is not necessarily bad for the young people to find comfort in playing video games if they happened to have a bad day as it may help them to cheer up and be less aggressive towards their own family. Watching television can be an entertainment and also a way to learn something new. There are many shows that teach valuable lessons that can be applied in our daily lives and create awareness of certain problems happening in the world.

There are many ways for friends and families to bond with one another and one way is playing video games or watching television. Many may choose to stay at home to spend their free time as some family members are usually too busy to spend quality time with one another at home due to work hence staying at home is their only way of relaxation. Through playing video games you get to interact, bond and understand each other better and help one another in the game to progress together. When you watch television together you get to voice out your opinion on the show and recall some old memories made in the past, making it more enjoyable and also enable them to communicate and share about their week or anything in general.

Staying home to play video games or watching television compared to spending more time outdoors have their own pros and cons. However I think that staying at home is better now, due to the current situation. Staying home is the best way to keep oneself and your loved ones healthy hence playing games at home is another way to let family members bond and interact.

I think that now is not the best time to encourage young people to go out but stay at home, however gaming and watching television must be done in moderation and not over long periods of time.

Interesting perspective of using video games to bond with family; Good to specify what is the current situation and what you forsee in the future of restrictions change

Most would agree that going outdoors is better than staying indoors to play computer games or watching television because too much screen time is bad for the eyes and we won't have enough fresh air inside. However, I saw a video online where a brain scientist talks about how gaming can actually benefit a person in many ways. In the video she talks about her experiments on non-gamers and before the experiment, she would give them a pre-test then she had them actually play video games for a few hours a day for about two weeks. After the experiment, the non-gamers were given a post-test and they actually did better. After playing video games, their eyesight got better, their attention span improved and they are able to resolve conflicts faster and have the ability to track things faster than those who does not play video games.
In my opinion, it may be a little skeptical but since it is scientifically proven, I will believe it hence, I feel that doing activities outside need not be encouraged because indoor activities will also benefit young people. However, the time spent on video games and watching television must not be too long if not it would turn into an addiction.

You need to give a counterargument about why doing activities outdoors may be better before giving your final conclusion; Q3 is like an argumentative essay; the format stays the same

I feel that younger people should try to be more active doing activities outside rather than staying indoors to play video games. Going outdoors and playing sports once in a while can help to improve our mental health state and physical health. You wouldn’t feel the sense of guilt for not doing anything productive but actually feel better that you are doing something good for yourself. Exercising have a lot of health benefits, one is decreasing the chances of getting a heart attack drastically because it helps to strengthen the heart’s muscle to pump to blood better.

I know that watching television or playing computer games can be very fun and in a news article, a scientist said that it may improve people’s health if done in small doses.

However, those can be very addicting and be a hinderance for your way of living. You will tend to procrastinate and stop doing the tasks on hand and leave it for another time to do it, this mindset will be engraved in your head and it will become a habit. It’s okay to play once in a while or watch television but do note to complete your assignments and exercise regularly to keep yourself fit.

All in all exercising is important as it has many benefits and playing games and watching television can also help to relieve us from a stressful day. Both indoor and outdoor activities are needed to balance our daily routines in our daily lives because without one of them we could not simply ‘live’ without them.
Counterargument about why staying indoors can be beneficial is too short.

I believe that young people should go out more often as it can allow them to de-stress and exercise; while providing a good change of scenery. Recently, due to the COVID-19 measures, more and more people are opting to stay at home as it is more convenient and relaxing to stay in an environment that many of us are comfortable in. This has caused many young people to turn to video games and television for entertainment. While such activities may be argued my some to help stimulate the brain and train people to have a longer attention span, such effects are only beneficial in the short term. In the long run, it is still disadvantageous to focus on gaming and television for too long as it could lead to addiction. Hence, I feel like going outside would encourage more young people to spend time with their family and friends; and to remind them to stay healthy. Going outside also means that young people can experience more of the outside world, and will be more sociable and adventurous as they go out of their comfort zone. Additionally, it will also remind them of how important our environment is, and encourage them to conserve the health of our planet. Furthermore, going outside can also allow one to experience new hobbies such as photography or jogging. This will help young people grow and develop their interests.

In conclusion, I feel that agree with the statement that young people should be encouraged to go outside as it allows them to feel more free, and not trapped at home.

By going outdoors and into nature or even immersing yourself in society, it helps bring a sense of calmness and take a breather from the hustle and bustle of life as a young adult or a teenager. For example, I've participated in an outdoor camp activity in Secondary Two at ORTO campsite. It was a great sense of relaxation and a break from the stressful atmosphere in school and enter an exciting and bountiful time. Overall, it helped me find some peace from the stress and it is, to me, a healthier way of rewinding back to a more calm state of mind to relax and have fun.

Another reason would be that it widens our children's opportunity and experiences to new things and activities. For example in outdoor camps, students are able to try out, and experience first-hand, high elemental activities like the flying fox or even walking on suspended bridges in the air. it is truly and enticing and enriching method to have fun and widen children's sphere of experiences in outdoor activities.

However, I do think that staying indoors to play computer games or watching television to help some young people around. playing video games to help with increasing the alertness of an individual. For example, research done by scientist, Daphne Bavelier, has shown, through multiple experiments, that gaming has increased a person's critical thinking and alertness. One experiment showed that normal young adults can have an attention span of about three or four objects of attention. While a video game player has a span of about 6 to 7 objects of attention. It shows how much more alert and attentive young video gamers have as compared to lets say an average young adult. Therefore, I feel that staying indoors and playing computer games are not as bad as what the majority thinks.

Good use of personal examples; Good balance of ideas but your final conclusion sounds contradictory to your stand / thesis at the start.
