Covid/ lockdown. I, like so many other students got stuck in lockdown during the personality-building years of my life. It hit when I was in the middle of fourth grade and the whole of fifth grade. I feel like without covid I would be such a different person, though I feel like it had a negative impact on my life it did impact my life in so many ways.

Getting into Holton Arms. I remember getting into Holton, I was in the middle of the day at the end of English, we had just gotten back from lunch and I was sitting at my desk and decided to look at my phone, and there I saw a text from my mom saying that I got in. I had spent so much time agonizing over the application, worrying about the result and all my work had paid off and I got in. I was so excited and I just felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole rest of the day.

Reading My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk. My Name is Red is my all-time favorite book and though I believe that is bound to change over time and my thoughts and ideologies are changed by the inevitable experiences of life, this book resonated with me the first time I read it and has continued to since then. A part of it that I love and hooks other people when I suggest it to them is that you hear from the POV of the murderer but you don't know who it is, you are given the option of 3 characters in the book who may be the killer but you don't know who it is till the end of the book. I have never had a book mess with my mind as much as this book and it is an amazing experience that changed the way I look at everyday objects, and think about life and literature.
