The English poem starts by trying to help us gain a perspective on what the freedom fighters had to go through to help us get where we are today. They travelled through the “belly of the beast”, learnt that quiet is not always peace. This goes to show their struggle for freedom. The following paragraphs circle around hope. How they never gave it up. During all the hard times, they fought through adversity, kept hope and faith that they would succeed. This is a tremendous task since their light shone the brightest during the darkest days. The final paragraphs the author talks about how wholesome the country is after freedom even if is scared by the foreigners. The people are free to assert their own will, which may show happiness since they have regained what is theirs. Now they look forward to rebuilding and getting back to where they were

It inspires nationalism, glorifying our history and highlighting our moments of perseverance. It calls for our nation to be just and fair but also not docile at the same time.

The poem "The Hill We Climb", written in an authoritative and contemplative tone, with a solemn yet optimistic mood describes the hardships and difficulties a country - as a whole - undergoes, to stand up together, collectively, with the spirit of being a part of something that matters. Furthermore, the beauty of the final result is expressed so genuinely by the poet, that it can only be termed 'pure bliss'. Furthermore, phrases like "weathered and witnessed", "catastrophe", and "terrifying hours" emphasize on the strenuous and trying times a nation collectively experiences, with a patriotic tone. Moreover, an almost-utopian picture is painted vividly to show the reader the hopeful aspirations the writer harbors for her nation to rise to. This poem urges the reader to believe in being a part of something significant - like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle - because however minute we may think our role is, we contribute to the big picture. The perfect description of harmonious patriotism, this poem reminds me of the "tingle" we get every time the National Anthem plays. After all, we are what our nation is.

The hill we climb is a beautiful and invigorating poem that explicitly and powerfully describes the themes of hope, unity, healing, and resilience. At the beginning of the poem; "where can we find light in this never-ending shade? The loss we carry,", she talks about the deep sickening pain, anguish and grief that we carry with us is like a huge, deep-sea that we have to slowly struggle through. The bravest of the men and women who have satisfied their precious lives and fully and unswervingly submitted to their invaluable and treasured land and country fighting with the largest, fierce and dangerous beasts or enemies must be remembered on this prestigious day. And somehow through all the struggles and sweat, we see that a new dawn, a new day arises where the country is free and cherished. Sure it is true that a country can't be perfect but we can always and forever try to aim for immediate perfection. She also mentions and dreams of a country that doesn't hurt anyone, but that brings everyone together; a country that is equally livable for all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. The poem lifts spirits and encourages us to have that little ray of bright hope even through the thickest of fights, sorrow and struggles. They kept hoping even when we were in pain. They kept trying even when we were exhausted, and that they always wanted to create a better world by always working closely together. This poem is so inspiring and teaches us so many lessons. Lastly, the new sun rises when we allow it to rise. Because light never goes away, if we have the courage to look for it—if we have the courage to make it ourselves.
