         <description><![CDATA[<div>The aulos was an ancient Greek woodwind instrument with a double reed, similar to an oboe. It was also known as the kalamos or libykos lotos, which referred to the material from which part of the instrument was made:  reed and Libyan lotus plant.<br>It is from the wind's family and belongs to the woodwind group.</div>]]></description>

The satyr Marsyas retrieved the instrument and played it in competition with Apollo, who played the lyre.</div>]]></description>
