I think word banks on tests are good for students who have a hard time recalling all of the important words from memory. My folklore class gives "multiple choice" where you have to remember the key words from the study guide to put for the multiple choice, and I can remember a few but not all of them. A word bank would be beneficial to help students remember what words are important to use and could also help them remember how to spell. If it was an extended response it can help keep students on track with what they need to discuss/ talk about.

I definitely think they help. As someone who is neurodivergent I very often forgot which answers I had already used and which ones I still had left. With a word bank I could make out or remember which word was which because it was written out for me. An example would be middle school vocabulary quizzes where I had the definition and used wrote the answer and took it from the word bank.

If a student with special needs or a disability was confused on a certain word on a text for an assessment, it would be helpful for them to have a word bank to look off of for reference. This would help them see what the word they are stuck on means and helps them understand more.

I think word banks can be beneficial to students that are not on track with reading or students that do not speak English as their first language. It gives them more words to reference that they may not have thought of.

I believe providing word banks for students with disabilities would be helpful. The reason I believe this is it could help with recalling information and help with spelling answers correctly.

I think word banks on tests are beneficial to students because it allows them to look at the word and if they actually learned the content they would know that word correlates with what is on the test. It can also help students who struggle with reading. Students can concertrate more on the question and less on remembering the basic words/how to spell them.

I think word banks would help students with disabilities to recall the information. This will also benefit all students who may have studied the main words and just needed some help getting started. This could also make sure all parts of the question was being answered to its entirety.

I think word banks on tests for all students is a good thing. In the real world, students will be able to look back and reference materials so they can do their jobs efficiently. Providing a word bank isn't giving away any answers, it's just providing a resource. I, myself, have a very hard time with word recall, so if I was able to see it, I would instantly know the answer.

Word banks can be a useful tool for all students because it provides further information and clarification of what a question is asking or what an answer refers to. I think it relates back to the discussion of how much we should help our students, and I am more on the side of giving students enough information to demonstrate their skills without giving the answer away. Especially for students with disabilities, the more clarity a teacher can provide, the more that student will be able to apply their knowledge.

I think word banks would be very beneficial for a test because it gives words that can be used on a writing portion and can be used as a reminder for the topic (like words that help with certain aspects of the topic).

I think using word banks are helping with breaking down large words and reminding students of the meaning of words so that they can answer what they actually understand. This can help all students by allowing them to focus on answering the question and showing what they know versus stressing them out on understanding the question itself and seeing if they understand what is being asked. An example is with history, if given a historical figure in the question adding on the side who that person was again to remind students what the context of the question is.

I personally would consider utilizing a word bank for my students. I think students with focusing disabilities who might get easily distracted, students with text anxiety,and students who might have been having an off day or something more serious on their minds deserve the chance to show what they know. I think the testing circumstances of a single day should not determine the overall score of showing what you have learned.

Word banks would be beneficial for students by helping them to remember important vocabulary words that may be difficult to memorize. Say it's an essay question, a word bank, could help to guide a student's response in the correct direction/prevent them from getting off track. Overall, it can provide more clarity for the student of what's expected of them.

I like the idea of having a word bank on any quiz or test personally because my elementary school never was allowed to focus on phonics and spelling very much so I know that a lot of my peers that I used to go to school with even to this day have troubles with spelling and if I am trying to grade a student's quiz or exam and they are misspelling key words that they needed in order to answer the question then I as their teacher am not giving them the tools that they needed in order to be successful. So, I do believe that if the quiz or exam includes bigger words or concepts in order to answer it that all students should have access to a word bank with those words on it.

Word banks are extremely beneficial to students with disabilities because it gives them the potential answers for the questions. Without the word bank, the answers could be literally anything. It becomes very confusing for the student as they may not be able to remember what the possible answers are. They could put a word in that they believe means the same thing and is actually the wrong answer. The chances of the student getting the questions right goes down a considerable amount without a word bank. I believe it is beneficial to all students, not only ones with disabilities. The word bank is a simple way to help the students without fully giving them the answers. They still have to know each of the terms well enough to know where they go. Leaving out a word bank does not help in any way.

Word banks can give students a starting point when thinking about a topic. When confronted with an open ended question, some students may struggle to zero their thoughts in on a specific topic or idea. If a word bank is available, students may find it easier to engage in deeper thought.

I think providing a word bank on tests can help students with disabilities because it gives options instead of making students recall specific words to explain. Also, this can help with students who feel they need something physical to look at and cross off words they have used instead of a teacher writing them on the board for guidance. This is beneficial because it allows students to stay on task and to feel more confident in their choices and spellings of the words they are choosing for the answer. I have always been worried about spelling and if teachers would count off points for the misspellings of words with a word bank I could physically see and spell correctly.

Word banks are beneficial because they help students remember or recall information. Young students only have so much brain power, so if they know what the word means and what it can't be drawn to, it's okay if they forgot the word or need help spelling.
