In the TED talk, Lera Borodistky describes an egocentric-focused way of communicating as a self-focused way. We use words like "left and right" to explain the direction we are going. An example in the video is time; what I am facing is how time goes. The focus of time chases me every time I change the direction of my body. That is an egocentric-focused way of communicating. But for the Kuuk Thaayorre, time is locked geographic way. There are no words like "left" and "right." They use the words south, east, west, and north. They said the time was right to left when we sat facing north. So time isn't locked in the body but a landscape. 

Another example in the TED talk is numbers. We can count one, two, three, four, five, six, and seven. But in some languages, there are no words with that specific number. Not all languages are like English and have specific terms for particular items; in some geographic places around the world, there isn't a word for the things we can think of. But they have different words that shape their way of thinking.
