Celebration of Life by Kimberly Valdez https://padlet.com/kimberlyvaldez11/rq5c95slzle5bzh Celebrating the life of Alvin, a beloved member of our VA family who left us too soon on Saturday May 25, 2024. Alvin was born and raised in Winston, OR, and was a loving son to his mother Rose, a devoted nephew to his uncle RC, a caring brother to Larry, a supportive brother-in-law to Tracey, and a doting father to his daughter Kaitlynn. Alvin joined our team in 2018, bringing with him a wealth of life experience from his time as a DJ, commercial radio host, and travel agent. His love for travel took him to many beautiful places, but his heart always belonged to Hawaii. He took great pride in his father's musical legacy, and his love of music was evident in everything he did. Alvin was a true outdoorsman, finding solace and joy in horseback riding with his daughter. He cherished these moments, and they will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Today, we remember Alvin not only for the work he did or the titles he held, but for the kindness, humor, and friendship he brought to our lives. We will miss his infectious laughter, his unwavering kindness he provided our veterans, and his genuine love for those around him. As we celebrate Alvin's life, let us honor his memory by living each day with the same joy and passion that he brought to everything he did. Rest in peace, Alvin Wade. I liked Alvin from the first time I met him. He was one of those guys that had the gift of the gab. I'd call him to discuss something I thought would only take a few minutes and we'd end up on the phone for 20 minutes. Whenever we would roll out a new process I would check in with him to see how it was going because I knew he would give me honest feedback and I appreciated that he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. No matter how much he may have disagreed with something, he would still show up to work and put his best foot forward. When reviewing his phone calls, I always admired how genuinely nice he was to our Veteran's. Alvin would get 2 or 3 compliments a month from our Veterans, echoing that same sentiment. He was getting so many that I would tease him and tell him his new name is going to be Mr. Compliments. I am going to miss having what Alvin brought to our team and I am going to miss his kind, funny/witty personality.

From the very beginning we knew he was going to fit in with our "little family." The Veterans might be angry when a call started but with Alvin's calm demeanor they didn't stay angry. He truly cared about doing the most he possibly could to resolve whatever issue they might have. He built great relationships with his co-workers in the call center but also with those in the clinics. He was always eager to learn and help with any projects that needed extra work. Alvin was always willing to work extra hours to ensure our Veterans were taken care of. He was truly one of a kind and I will miss our conversations, his generous nature and his laugh.
