He attended Stanford university between 1920 and 1926 but got no degree .He was a manual laborer before one of his books attained closure. Steinbeck made, "cup of gold", "the pastures of heaven" and "To a god unknown" until he made " Tortilla Flat" his first book to achieve popularity . The grapes of wrath alone won a Pulitzer prize and a Nobel prize in 1962.
