When resources were low in one area, they would move out of that area and find a new one where there were more resources.They would also move to sheltered areas in the winter. Large bands would split up into smaller family unit that were much more easier to be more efficient. Both men and women had influential roles in this Tribe. Women both hunted and gathered while men mostly hunted. The Ute used their resources near them to create new items for survival. The bear root, common in the mountains, was used as a medicinal plant. They also used the yucca plant to make numerous household items.
