The Ute Tribe were hunter-gatherers, so they lived in a mobile society. When resources were low in one area, they would move out of that area and find a new one where there were more resources. They would also move to sheltered areas in the winter. Large bands would split up into smaller family unit that were much more easier to be more efficient. Both men and women had influential roles in this Tribe. Women both hunted and gathered while men mostly hunted. They traded with the Spanish, but raided other tribes to get horses.

1. The Ute used their resources near them to create new items for survival. The bear root, common in the mountains, was used as a medicinal plant. They also used the yucca plant to make numerous household items.
2. The Utes settled on high mountains, with rivers running through the reservation. Since water was a valuable resource, it began to cause conflict between the Utes and non-Indians nearby.
