Sourcing HIPP O is a way to ensure we get the points on the AP exam. Firstly, historical contextualization where you add context to what you are writing about. Secondly, the intended audience. Here is where you layout who the documents were intended for and why. Then the purpose which is more on why and whats the purpose of the document. Then finally, the point of view. The author and why they wrote what they wrote because of what then as an add on outside evidence.

Sourcing HIPP is the most important skill to ensure points in the AP exam. H, meaning historical situation, explains the time and place of a situation. I, meaning Intended Audience, explains the person or character the author is trying to influence. First P, meaning Purpose, explains the reasoning of a document. While sourciong HIPP, the last P stands for POV meaning point of view. Point of view explains why the author wrote what he wrote and also his background information.

HIPPO is way for us to ensure we meet all the guidelines to get the maximum amount of points on the FRQ. HIPPO include Historical situation, which help give some background information about the content, and the cause and effect towards the document its talking about. Then we have Intended audience, identify the type of people that will be informed from this FRQ. Purpose of document, which is the purpose the author created the source and how it affect the content of the document. Next we have POV, which is the author, knowing the background information of the author. Last but not least, we have outside evidence, any outside information that can correlate to the thesis.
