These telephones typically hung on the walls in homes mounted on a bracket. The telephones are made of plastic that is long, heavy, and thick to hold making it uncomfortable to talk for long periods of time. There also is a short spiral attached cord from the wall to the telephone. The person using the phone has to remain close to the device otherwise it will become unplugged and drop the call. The keypad is laid out similar to a rectangle shape with twelve buttons arrange in four rows and three columns of keys. The pound (#) and star (*) keys are used for business call services. The speaker at the top is circular with holes, and the speaker at the bottom is square with four deep holes.

Instead of being attached by a cord, these telephones had a base which could be removed. The telephones had to remain on the charger base when not being used due to their short battery span. The portable device allowed for easier communication to preform tasks while on the phone. The telephone is a little smaller than the push-button wall phone and doesn't weigh as much. The material of the telephone is plastic and has more buttons (arrows, speaker, menu, and clear).  Another major difference is having a display screen to see miscalls and having the ability to make calls back. The speaker at the top of the telephone is smaller but is longer across the phone, and the speaker at the bottom has a small slit.

The iPhone is very unique in character because it only has a display screen and a small button under the screen. The phone is very small to make it convenient to fit in your pocket. The phone has decreased in size as well as weight compared to the previous house phones and cell phones. At the top of the cell phone is a very thin split which is the speaker and a small circle to the left which is a self camera. There is also a front facing camera on the back of the phone. The iPhones camera package allows for quality pictures. There is also a small button to the right side of the phone to turn the phone on and off. On the left side of the phone is a switch that turns the phones sound on and to vibrate as well as volume buttons. This phone only has a display screen because it has everything needed through the screen. The touch screen features include: texting keyboard, camera, calendar, notes, contact lists, apps, music, and much more. The iPhone is completely made of glass.

The keyboards main purpose is to make texting much easier and faster. The keyboard is designed on this cell phone to look like a computer keyboard. The front display screen is made up of glass and the keyboard is made of plastic. The speaker at the top of the phone is hard to see due to it being slimmer. The length of the phone is much smaller but the width is wider to be able to have more use of the displayed screen and to provide the cell phone with a keyboard.

This cell phone could be used anywhere desired making this device mobile. Although the key pad features remains the same as the cordless house phone, this phone features a unique button. This phone allows a person to make phone calls and to direct connect someone. Direct connect allows a person to communicate through a system like a walkie talkie. This cell phone features an antenna, a flipping screen, a larger display screen, key pad and arrows, a screen like material top speaker, and a slit for the bottom speaker. This Nextel is a smaller devise then the house phones allowing to make the phone easier for carrying because of its mobility. Although, the phone can be flipped open to allow the phone to have all its needed components to function properly and the antenna can be pushed into its shelling to protect its easily bendable structure. The Nextel's material is made of plastic.

In this short digital exhibit we see how phones continue to change yearly. It is incredible to see how the household telephone evolved into todays modern mobile cell phones that not only allow us to communicate with others quickly and easily, but also allow us to connect with people throughout the world using apps. The majority of people today have phones which they probably can't live without. The reason why people can't live without these small devices is because phones connect them to whats going on in the world around them. Cell phones have taken over the world and provides everyone with the information they need to know within seconds and a small reach away. Every year new cell phones come out to increase technology to make our lives easier even when you don't think there can possibly be anymore improvements. The picture below shows the 5 generations of iPhones and how they continue to fit the needs of people per year. It's crazy to see how much just the IPhone alone has changed over five years.
