Scientist believe in possibilism as a way of saying that climate can limit the actions of humans, but they can adjust to the environment.

Humans can modify the land to work in there favor like building hydro plants to produce energy or build water to get across body's of water. We can adapt to the land by using solar panels to produce energy if you live somewhere away from civilization. By depending on the land we can get different climates in different areas, like if you live by a freshwater lake you can use that lake for water purposes.

Sustainability is the relationship between the Earths natural resources and the rate the humans use these resources which can lead to heavy amounts of air pollution. As the population in cities get larger the need for natural resources like fossil fuels. The Earth only has so many of these resources. Using resources like fossil fuels can result in air pollution, too much use of it at one time can result in bad air quality. Its good that humans are conserving resources like water and keeping animal populations at a normal level. Humans have made wildlife parks and reserves to protect nature and its creatures.
