These trees also have thicker bark to protect their core during the winters. Plants like fern grow during the spring to absorb sunlight before the trees block it out.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Temperate forests have a variety of plants species found on all levels. On the forest floor there are <strong>lichens</strong>, <strong>moss</strong>, <strong>ferns </strong>, and other small plants. In the middle level, there are shrubs.          <title>Threat to the Ecosystem in this Biome </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The largest threat to Temperate Forests are acid rain. This acid rain is caused by vehicular emissions, causing damage to trees leaves which reduces the number of seeds that are produced as well as lowering the resistance to disease for the trees <strong>(biotic)</strong>.
