1. What Germany said:

Germany participated in the fighting after Serbia declared war
Kaiser and the German government thought of a way to end the fighting with germany
germans marched to war to show there military is still strong

2. What really happened:

Germany went into war unprepared
For a couple years they managed to fight against allies on the western front.
Germany wanted a stop to the war
Powers of favor in allies were unbalanced once the united states joined the war.
After the 2nd Battle of the Marne Germany would surrender
Lost the war / out of soldiers and ideas

3. At the treaty:

Did not invite Germany to the Peace conference
The treaty was handed to Germany and they had few weeks to accept it
Germany sent it back with few complaints but the Allied ignored it

4. Germany's feelings:

Germany was disappointed, they were angry, and they felt betrayed
They were angry and offended at the fact that the war had started the war and they had to pay for it
The treaty was unjust

Serbia

1. What Serbia said:

We felt that nationalism held the key
We had to set free the Bosnians
We were declared war very unfairly
We were proud to defeat the Austrians

2. What really happened:

Serbia politicians had knowledge of “the Black hand” terrorists organization
Some politicians conspired with the terrorist assassins
Serbians were careless in hope that Russia would get involved
Serbia just as guilty as Austria for starting WWI

3. At the treaty:

Serbia got large amounts of land from Austria
It was also the same land that was going to be given to Italy

4. Serbia's feelings:

Diversities in Yugoslavia led to a divided nation
Serbia was split into 4 independent nations Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia

France

1. What France said:France was brought into the war because of its strong alliance with Russia,

2. What happened:
France did not care about peace, but only revenge

They wanted military restrictions to keep Germany weak forever

France stole German colonies and made them their own

They pushed “War Guilt” the most out of all the countries

France set Germany up for failure

3. At the treaty:

France wanted revenge
France did not like Germany
France put troops in Rhineland tp guard for any future attacks from Germany
Wanted Germany to pay the total wto cost

against France's feelings:

France felt that the Versailles agreement was too harsh on Germany.

They werent sure of joining the war at first until germany started violating that the great powers had made

The british did not care about the rape and violation on beglian
The british only cared about their wealth
They got German colonies in Africa and Asia as well as 33 billion in gold

Lloyd did not want Wilson to destroy restrictions on trade and wanted britain to have control on germany’s colonies

< 1 year ; assisted help & won war w/ allies
Only fought for support;
wanted peace amongst, bc/ ppl experienced worst war
Overall did not like idea of war

Americans sympathy to allied cause ; beginning
(except german-american population) ^^
More common w/ Brit. Fran. than Aus. Germ.
Horrified of massacre caused by Germans
^^ belgium hostages / bomb gothic cathedrals
^^ IN FRANCE!! (innocent civilians)

US wanted lasting peace between all the presidents and Germnay
US pulled out of the treaty;created their own with Germany
America isolates themselves from foreign ties to not create war
Bombing on pearl harbor happens on December 7th,1941

Wilson felt that to make peace around the whole world U.S.A needed to be part of the League nations. He died and didn’t have the chance to convince them all
The population wanted nothing to do with Wilson’s grand
Congress believed that the best solution was isolationism

Italy

1. What Italy said:

Entered the war with the triple alliance, yet refused to support their partners
Italy’s only responsibility was to only act if they were attacked(Neutral)
Were pretty much bystanders up until 1915
April 1915- sided with Britain, France, and Russia

2. What really happened:

Italy allied themselves with Britain
France promised Italy payment at the expense of Austria-Hungary as well as land in the Middle East and Africa.
Italy is looking to expand their territory by possibly 100 percent and made the logical political choice and changed sides.

3. At the treaty:

The france didn’t want that Italy become to powerful and large
France didn’t want to make another powerful Austria-Hungary
Italy left the treaty but then they came back later

4. Italy's feelings:

Italy had joined the allies for land in return
Italy felt disrespected because the allies had not kept their end of the bargain

Japan

Japan needed resources to expand empire
France and Britain asked Japan to attack Germany
Put military pressure on Germany tp prevent supplies coming into Germany

Japan realized they needed resources to industrialize
Japan declared war on Germany
Japan wanted to take German land

3. At the treaty:

They kept japan out of east Asia and away from war
Japan was awarded some of the German outposts
Japan walked out of the conference because of World War 1 and they felt angry

4. Japan's feelings:

Japan is angry for not having gained anything from the war
The treaty from the war keep Japan out of East Asia and their resources

Austria

1. What Austria said :

Austria have changed and is stating their own country as a place wherein they have independence because they’re self reliant.
Austria also wanted to forget and start a new beginning for what had happened and achieve peace , and no war.
Other countries can’t make them have any punishment because Austria is changing for the better.

2. What really happened :

The Austrian-Hungarian Empire's attempt in the Country of Europe led to its collapse.
There was an assassination on Archduke which led to a strong stance on Serbia.
Austria had taken the stance even when a war could have begun.

3. At the treaty :

Austria lost 72% of pre-war territory
Germany became its partner in crime
lost all it's access to water
Became an locked land nation
Losting all it's army and submarines

4. Austria's feelings :

Industrial locations provided wealth for the country
No industry causes difficulties to pay reparation
Allies never didn’t set a amount, and later forgived other reparation
The division of Austrians eliminated at strong presence in central Europe
Made it easy to conquer lands without any challenges
