         <description><![CDATA[<p>Clan members believed in giving their daughters’ experience in military education for the symbolic discipline as wives or mothers, so it stood as an important skill to have for women of the time.</p><p><br></p><p>Generally, however some battle training did not stand for symbolism. The training taught to these women defense in protecting their families.</p><p>____________________________________</p><p><br></p><p>The family of each samurai completely tied into the role as the family determined how much training the warrior would be allowed.</p>]]></description>

Women like her were considered strong warriors and exception to the cultural ideology of women staying&nbsp;home to&nbsp;take care of the children and family’s property</p></li><li><p>"Kawahara Asako was among several Aizu women determined to defend the castle against invaders. Their education had prepared these women for war.&nbsp;These warriors stand in a long tradition of women in Japan who joined battles alongside their male counterparts and immortalized themselves as&nbsp;<em>Onna-Bugeisha</em>, literally, “female martial arts masters."</p></li><li><p>"Female warriors were in the noblest class of feudal Japanese society and would fight alongside men during warfare.”</p></li></ul>]]></description>
