Let students read the articles which deal with the reparations Germany had to make and how Germany lost lands.

· Discuss with students how these concessions led to resentment and opened the door to Nazism.

· Hitler promised to end unemployment, poverty and make Germany a world power again.

· Explain the impact of the world-wide depression and how economic depression can lead the way for conflict and change.

· The Holocaust resulted in the extermination of 6 million Jews in Europe- almost the entire Jewish population was destroyed.

· The Jews that survived had to be relocated and this resulted in many refugees and immigrants that migrated to other parts of the world.

· Russia and the US (became known as the SuperPowers), allies in WWII, became bitter enemies after WWII because of differences in political ideas: communism and democracy.

· This resulted in political conflicts and nuclear build-up: The Cold War.

· The US wanted to rebuild European countries with democratic governments and the Soviet Union wanted these countries to have a communist government.

· Many countries in Europe became communist after WWII: Poland, Romania, East Germany, and Yugoslavia.

· Germany was split after WWII into West Germany- Democratic and East Germany-Communist with the Berlin Wall dividing the two countries.

· Life in the communist countries was difficult. Then, the students will read and discuss the War on Drugs and its impact on Latin America. Questions to be answered: Why is there a war on Drugs and how do drugs in Latin America influence the United States? What are some of the consequences of the War on Drugs in Latin America? How do you think drugs influence the poverty rate in Latin American countries? Has the War on Drugs been successful? Justify your answer with evidence from the video clip and article?

Good Morning, on yesterday I passed out to my first period honors/GTE class a package of information concerning the National History Day requirements. That information will be gone over in class today aftr mid-term is given. Please allow 1st period students to bring back package to class on today. I sent it home to let you know that we will begin this week and to answer questions for STEP I. There are numerous choices to be made and each comes with explanation and rubrics. 5th Period Gifted and GTE will get their package today. Once again discussion starts today after mid-term is complete and tomorrow. Please do not be turned off by the thickness of the package. After going through the package, the students will see that after choosing the topic and the area in which to do research that it is not too much to get done. Please send me your questions on EDMODO so we can meet deadlines and clarify any concerns. Have a great day.
