The U.S. become gainig Mexican cession after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hadalog. The free soil party was one of those. It was a political party that opposed the extension of slavery in the western territory.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>A book/novel created by Harriet Beecher Stowe, that tells the story of Uncle Tom a slave. It allowed people who read it to empathize with slaves. It had engaged the abolitionists in the north. The south aboslutely hated the book, and it had been banned in man places.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>After the western territories were bought from Mexico it was up for discussion of if the territories would become slave states of not. It had been created by former members of the Whig parties. The party wanted to stop the spread of slavery. This party mainly was supported by the North. The members were Amos Tuck, Alavan E. Bavary, Abraham Lincoln, Edwin D Morgan and more.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>A territorial act that created territories of kansas and nebraska that also gave them the ability to vote to be a slave state or not. This was opposed by the North and the South. This was because they thought they would vote for he opposite sides. Many comparisons between this act and the Lousiana purchase came up. Many arguments if this had gone against the consititution had came up. The president Franklin pierc had a big choice to make.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Dred Scott decision (1857)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The missouri compromise had outlawed slavery in the Wisconsin territory. The Missouri Statues allowed any person of color to sue for wrong enslavement. The Dred Scott case was one that spanded a decade in which Dred Scott would fight for his and his famliy's freedom. The decision made by the court was that Scott should remain a slave but he was later aquired by his late master brother in law and freed by him. Scott was in this position because his master's sister Eliza Irene Sandford wanted to keep him and his family as slaves even though they had moved to Wisconsin.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Lincoln-Douglass Debate (1858)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>After the Kansas Nebraska Act and new territories joining the union a series of debates between Lincoln and Douglass begun. They were hour long debates that commented on te extension of slavery being wanted and not in the new territories. The debates were also about views on race and slavery as a whole, which resulted in Abraham Lincoln becoming more popular towards northerners and anti-salvery groups.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>John Brown Raid on Harper&#39;s Ferry (1859)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>An abolitionist named John brown lead small groups against a federal armory in Harpers Ferry. They were attempts to start a revolt against slavery and slave owners by arming slaves with weapons, and liberating them. John Brown would soon be caught and hung after declaring the only way the despute of slavery would be solved was in blood. These events only fueled and increased the divide between north and south. The pro-slave groups in the south would start to fight freed or already free colored people.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Abraham Lincoln&#39;s Election (1860)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>After the Lincoln and Douglass debates Lincoln gained more popularity in certain groups which may have given him some boosts in the election. The election was between Lincoln, Hannibal Hamlin, and two others. The election pretty much demontrated how divided the U.S. was pre civil war. All of the candidates had been somewhat strong withi their communities but Abraham Lincoln won.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>After the Kansas Nebraska Act decided by president franklin Pierce, resulted in Kansas becoming a free state along with nebraska there was an outrage in pro slavery groups. The pro slavery groups wanted to fight against the northerners and anti slavery groups. It resulted in multiple otbreaks of violence between the two groups called bleeding Kansas.</div>]]></description>
