For example, A 39-year-old North Carolina woman was evicted from her apartment because she was "too loud" after her ex-boyfriend shot her and she jumped out from her apartment's second-story balcony to escape his attack.

d. Explanation: Facing these abusive patterns over and over can cause short-term and long-term effects. Emotional abuse can cause anxiety and confusion. The victim often wants to stay with the abuser in an attempt to try and change the abuser's behavior. Long-term abuse can affect a person's overall well-being, resulting in severe depression and anxiety.
