Summary: 
This article looks at how religion in politics becomes a form of 'rational control.' 

One of the most striking points for me was the statement: 'Memory evokes the feelings of belonging in a human community. Memory awakens and nurtures the spirit of resistance.' (pg 150) This is interesting as 'Persepolis' is an autobiography and thus it is her memory of her childhood and her adult years in Iran that shape her creative resistance... something to consider.
