Most of Mozambique practices the Roman Catholic religion. It is a diffused religion, meaning it came from Mozambique's mother country - Portugal and it is also a universalizing religion. It is a monotheistic religion, which means that they believe in only one God. The followers of this religion go to church and have certain rituals, called the seven sacraments. Their sacred text is the Bible. Places of worship are Catholic masses.

The highest ethnicity present in Mozambique is African. This ethnicity originated in Africa. Most Africans speak Arabic, Somali, Berber, Amharic, Swahili, Hausa, Fulahi and Yoruba. Main religions that Africans practice are Christianity and Islam. The second highest ethnicity is Euro-African. They are of European descent residing in Africa and identify themselves as white. Most Euro-Africans speak Afrikaans and English. Most practice Christianity for their relgion.

When it comes to women's rights, Mozambique is improving. However, women still get discriminated and violated. There are laws being passed to stop the harm of women, though many of them aren't being followed through with. Women are seen as objects in this country.

The mayor of Maputo, a city in Mozambique, is working on urbanizing the rural areas. This includes getting clean water to the homes and making sure homes have electricity. It connects to this unit because it shows how the country is becoming more modernized. This is urbanization, which is something we learned in this unit.
