Most medias are controlled by commercial interests: In the Titanic film, it sets on the era of Industrial Revolution, thus representing the presence of old money, like Rose's fiancee, new money, Madam Brown and the working class, the people like Jack, and how their lifestyle and mindset are shown to be different even though they are all boarding the same boat, due to the class hierarchy within these people. Thus viewers are then led to think, no matter how, there will always be that thin line of difference found in these people even if they are in the same situation, and that thin line in the Titanic is the line of 'social class'
2. Media systems reflecting the power dynamics in our society: The film Titanic was based on true events and depicts the realest details about the ship as well such as the survival rate of the people on board. The people from the higher social class have a higher rate of survival as their cabins and the level they are able to access were located in the higher levels of the ship whereas the middle and low social class only go lower and lower down the ship as some of them conduct work on the ship itself. The life boats were located in the top deck which means that the people who have access to the top deck are the first ones who have the highest percentage of survival.
3. Media are most powerful when they operate on an emotional level: The film as was based on the true story of the sinking ship, added the dramatic effect of adding a love story in the story line to make the film more impactful to the audience.
