Stereotypes get hold of the few simple vivid memorable easily grasped and widely recognised characteristics about a person, reduce everything about the person to those traits by exaggerating and simplifying them.

Stereotyping deploys a strategy of splitting. It divides the normal and the acceptable from the abnormal and unacceptable.

Media Language is used to create representations. Stereotyping is often used to assert power.

Representation of different groups within any given society is controlled by groups that have greater political power.

Instead of recognising individual characteristics or personalities of different individuals, Social identities reflect the way individuals and groups are within their societies, such as their cultural (or ethnic) identities, gender identities or class identities.

These social categories shape our ideas about who we think we are, how we want to be seen by others, and the groups to which we belong.

The film is a story of young white woman and aspiring journalist named "Skeeter",the story focuses on her relationship with two black maids during the Civil Rights movement in 1963 Jackson Mississippi.Skeeter decides to write a book from the point of view of the maids referred to as "The Help" exposing the racism they are faced with as they work for white families.

  • "Disease Preventative Bill"- Every white home to have a separate bathroom to the blacks
  • "I love fried chicken"- Stereotype
  • "Anyone who prints or publishes a book about the social acceptance or equality of blacks can be sentenced to imprisonment.
