Scuba mask: The mask helps make an space for air that helps you focus underwater and see clearly. The mask also helps the air pressure as you go down.

Scuba fins: It is harder to move underwater than on land, so the fins make it easier to swim in the water.

Wetsuit: The wetsuit stops cold ocean water from getting to your body because when water goes off your body it takes heat with it.

Scuba BCD: It can hold gear, it allows you to carry a tank with little effort, let's you float at the surface and let's you achieve neutral buoyancy at any spot in the water.

Scuba regulator: Makes it to where you can breath the high air pressure stored in the tank and breath underwater.

Dive computer: It can monitor your tank pressure, tell you how deep you are swimming, and lastly log your dives.

Basic knowledge review
This portion does not require you getting in the water and can actually be done by e-learning. This training can be done by watching videos or in person classes and then taking a quiz afterward testing one’s knowledge. It is basically school for scuba diving. Your instructor will teach you the basics of scuba diving, and you will be required to read up on and research all the basics of scuba diving and then your knowledge will be tested through an end of course assessment.

Pool Skills
Swimming pools are great places to practice the material you learned from your basic knowledge review. Swimming pools are used for training instead of open waters because they are contained and the water is calm to help beginners become secure with using scuba equipment. This type of controlled environment is necessary if one wants to further their training.

Open water training
Unlike pool training this type of dive occurs in a non-controlled open water environment. Skills are put to the test in ways that they cannot be inside a swimming pool. You are required to complete a series of open water diving training prior to becoming a certified scuba diver. Here your knowledge of the equipment will be a top priority, since you will be in an environment where it is necessary for you to know exactly what you are doing. Scuba diving can be extremely dangerous if you are not prepared.
