This website gave me the basic information of what happened in 1962 at the University of Mississippi. It gave few details but was very helpful by allowing me to understand what happened that in Mississippi.

Wikipedia is not the best source to use but in cases like this it is very helpful to have a basic understanding of the event. The summarization helped me write by short description of what the desegregation of university of mississippi is.

In this article it gave me details of the experience that James personally went through because it gave quotes on what he said when we saw all of the white people in the school. Not many other documents had quotes from James so that was very helpful. 

This source is an image of what I’m guessing is the main building of the campus. I saw this same building on the internet but this was the only one that I found before 1962 to give readers a visual of what the school might of looked like.

This video shows real clips from the sugar bowl and shows how the whole team was white. It also shows how involved the school is in football which is still shown today.

This newspaper article talks about how the enrollment into the University of Mississippi has gone down after the riots in 1962. Mostly because people did not want to go to a school that wasn’t all white especially because it was in the South.

This article shows the hatred that the University of Mississippi has towards colored people because they arrested a man for trying to enroll to the university. They must really want to stay segregated if they are willing to go to that extent.

This article was about the first African American football player recruited by the University of Mississippi. This was a very big deal because it showed that the segregation and hatred was starting to come to an end.

This video shows the speech that Governor of Mississippi Ross Barnett gave about how he will fight to keep segregation legal at all cost. He was against what JFK had done in Mississippi and argued with him because he believed segregation was best for Mississippi.

This video shows viewers real clips of what happened the night of all the riots at the University of Mississippi. It tells the story how the Governor and the President argued during the riots and it showed clips of the Army coming in and stopping the riots.

This newspaper shows how the governor Ross Barnett does not want segregation to end. He continues to fight a battle he can’t win in court. 

In this source it is an image that shows James H. Meredith being escorted on the University’s campus. This image captures the emotion that Meredith was going through on that day being the first African American enrolled in that university.
