It was a popular novel form in the 19th-century and used widely to explore the journey of a young person from childhood to maturity.
Charles Dickens is an outstanding realist writer, the novel "Great Expectations" is a clear example of this. In the novel, the author plausibly depicts the life of man and society. In this novel Charles Dickens widely used: hyperbole, Irony, Paradox, Allusion.
There are many intriguing descriptions in the novel. There is also a lot of "black" humor that helps to cope with difficulties.

In the book The Great Expectation, Charles Dickens considered themes of a moral, psychological, and social nature. For example, the theme of Integrity and Reputation permeates the entire novel. In Great Expectations, Dickens explores pride as both a positive and a negative trait by presenting various types of pride ranging from Estella and Bentley Drummle's snobbery to Joe and Biddy's moral uprightness. The crucial distinction between these different varieties of pride is whether they rely on other people's opinions or whether they spring from a character's internal conscience and personal sense of accomplishment. "Oh, there are many kinds of pride," said Biddy, looking full at me and shaking her head; "Pride is not all of one kind…[Joe] may be too proud to let any one take him out of a place that he is competent to fill, and fills well and with respect."
The theme of Ambition and Self-Improvement is also central to the novel, in my opinion. A "Pip" is a small seed, something that starts off tiny and then grows and develops into something new. Dickens presents the ambition to improve oneself that drives Pip along with many of the novel's secondary characters as a force capable of generating both positive and negative results. "…now, when suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but – I hope – into a better shape."
The main character Pip, being a poor orphan , aspires to become a gentleman, a respected man. But his life is full of difficulties and obstacles. Will Pip be able to handle them and end his story happily?

This novel impressed me. It is very interesting to observe the growth of the protagonist, the change of his views on life. This novel teaches that no matter how difficult the goal and the way to achieve them - everything is possible, you need to have big ambitions and not back down.
Remember that all Great Expectations can come true if you follow your dream.
