The ceremony usually includes a religious service, often in a church. The bride usually wears a beautiful white dress, and the groom a suit. After the ceremony, there is a big party, or, as they say in Venezuela, a rumba, with music, dancing, and lots of food. A popular tradition is the hora loca, where calypso music is played and a carnival is held.

Weddings in Venezuela always involve going to the church first and then going to the reception or the place where the party was held where there is food, drinks, gifts, a photo section and they wait for the newlyweds to enter. They put on music, dance the bride's waltz and then the crazy hour happens which is where they dance calypso, put on masks, throw balloons and foam to play.

In Venezuela there are many people instead of having a party as big as usual and it should be celebrated because it is a unique and important moment. They go to their nearest church with a simple dress. Close relatives go with the bride and groom and present themselves at the church. Then they go home and have a gathering with food, cake, and music. Not in a big way, but it is celebrated. On the other hand, people who do not want to get married get married legally with papers in an office called a notary.
