Once Brian crashes he has to adapt to the current environment from being in the city. If he doesn't adapt to the current environment he will not survive the long journey ahead of him. When his relatives return home he eats them and her daughter was playing in the pond after chasing a rabbit the uncle then says to come inside she then says no and runs and runs until she gets to her home it has been days without her parents.
