This photo consists of a flower on a lilypad across a body of water. The sunlight at this time was covered with clouds, creating an even light atmosphere. This sort of lighting produced a serene, peaceful atmosphere within the environment seen in the photo. A possible sense of tranquility is evoked due to the balance between the subject, the flower, and its contrast against the pond and the different textured background. Alongside this, the depth of field, which blurs the background and the foreground, allows the audience to reflect on the subject only, especially with the reflection being relatively clear as well. This effect creates a state of cleanliness, which is pleasant and satisfying to view.

This photo was taken in the morning after some rain. It was overcast, but the light coming through the water droplets on the plant was beautiful. I actually took this while I was on a trail ride on a horse. I liked the way the light reflected off of the water droplets. It was hard to get the right angle because it had to be very specific to take in the light. In person, it was even more beautiful but I feel that I still that I was able to capture it.

This photo was taken in Santa Barbra inside the courthouse. It was pretty dark inside the building, but very bright outside. As soon as I came into this room and saw the light streaming in through the stained glass window, I knew I wanted a picture of it. Because it was already dark inside, I didn't have to change the contrast much when editing. I also placed the center of the design in the bottom right because I took the picture in a way that has it facing up and to the left. I think the lighting in this image creates a moody and intense mood due to the darkness and high contrast between the light and dark areas.

There are many silhouette pictures like this, and most of them have a quote or bible verse on them. I can imagine this one having it too. Pictures like this with subjects so differentiated from the background, yet not entirely comprehendible (should) convey a calm feeling. Why this is, I'm not sure, but I can think that the subject of something not completely known, with such an abstract background let's people imagine the thing that's best to them. I graded this picture really working with the yellows. I wanted to maybe add some blue to it, but it got rid of the simplicity of it. So, here it is, in it's pre-sunset state.

the reflection of the sun of the windows provides a nice contrast to the white walls and the blue sky. The reflection of the trees from the windows help provide context to where the photo was taken. Some edits I did was simply making the highlights lighter and the shadows darker, I made the sky a bit more blue to emphasize contrast, and I made the reds, oranges, and yellows more pronounced. This photo was taken at Hermosa beach just as the sun was setting.
