         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><ol><li><strong>Appropriate Adaptations -&nbsp; </strong>Students who are ELD are assessed using the STEPS framework. It helps to identify the student’s strengths and provides strategies that are specific to the student.</li><li><strong>Incorporate Student Identity into the Learning</strong>- Students are more engaged when they’re able to share their life experiences and about their culture.&nbsp; Can be done through “identity texts” .&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Foundational Skills-</strong> Use literacy activities that are meaningful to the students. Foundational skills are built by&nbsp; using oral language, visuals, use of first language, small group, use appropriate text that individualized for each student(by using<strong> “Selecting Texts to Align with STEP”)</strong></li><li><strong>Integrating curriculum-</strong> Setting goals for curriculum, language, social and orientation are determined on the needs of each student.</li></ol>]]></description>
