The music video doesn't represent Bob's origin. But it does represent African-American Soldiers who fought in the 10th Calvary. The Native American's gave them the nickname Buffalo Soldiers. because their dark hair and dark skin reminded them of  a buffalo, they also called them that because the African-Americans were strong.
