1. What was something new or thought about in a different way that you learned this week and why?
This week I learned about the social contagion theory and how it applies to all of us. When you think about it, others have been influencing us since a very young age. Our first influencers were our parents and most of us wanted to grow up to be just like them. Continuing on in life we had classmates that we wanted to dress like and act like and friends we wanted to change the world with. Now days most of us in this class have a very common goal and that's what sets us apart from others.
2.Based on best practices, how can you apply what you know in you career choice as a Health Promotion Manager?
As a health promotion manager I could apply best practice to all of my work to make sure it is credible and worth sharing with others. Using trusted websites and peer reviewed work will give me confidence in the way I share information with others.
3. What do you want to learn more about, and why?
There are multiple things I'd like to go more in depth on in this class, such as why people are intrinsically aware that their lifestyle isn't healthy and they continue these negative behaviors. Some examples would be smoking, drinking, sedentary lifestyle, bullying, procrastination, and road rage. In health promotion I think its important to study our target group and figure out how we can help from there. Simply telling people they are obese or telling them they need to workout more just isn't going to work.

1. What made you curious this week?

Working with padlet.com was one thing that made me curious this week. Its a new website for me and seems to be very effective for this class and I'm glad I am learning more about it.

2. What about your thinking, learning, or work this week brought you the most satisfaction? Why?
Figuring out how to use the online discussion padlet was pretty satisfying as well as reading the influencer chapter was fun as well.

3. How did you help the class learn this week? If you feel you didn't add to class or feel the need to contribute more consider what can you do next week to help other learners more?
I always try my best to contribute to class and answer questions when asked. Next week I well do my best as well to help everyone learn as much as we can in the time provided.

1. How can you interpret the information presented so far in the Influencer book to reflect on this statement? What principles help you agree or disagree with the statement?
The influencer to me is about becoming a person who makes an impact on others in a positive way to better their life. I agree with the principles about only trying to impact small things at a time in order to make a bigger impact in the long run.

2. What is your vision of wellness using the principals promoted in Workplace Wellness that Works book? Use Putnam's to imagine what is possible to create an innovative wellness program.
I think that if we all use the principles that we learned in the Putnam book we can all become better wellness professionals because it teaches us how to use empathy. To me, empathy is the most important term we have learned so far in the HPW program. It teaches us to be mindful of others and once we can become mindful we can help others better.

1. Can you identify one way all the material we have covered (through Wed. Feb. 20) links together in a best, promising, or emerging practice methodology?

I think one of the best ways that we have learned is through awareness and the action steps that follow. Obviously the first step is making sure the public is aware of ongoing problems in the community and that is always an important first step. Where we are at in wellness now a days we will mostly be focusing on the action steps such as planning and the development of programs to help the people.

How would you use Putnam's ideas of "Creating Meaning" for the population you are targeting in the topic for your Genius hour? As the opning states, we have to help them know their "WHY." What of the many ideas presented this week help you get buying from your group? I would say that using creative meaning when targeting a specific population just means treating them in a unique way from other populations. Not everyone is the same and they should be treated as such.

Engage all Six Sources of Influence - reflect on the six sources of influence and think about your strategy and methods. How would you plan to diffuse these into your project so you actually make a difference?

I would first talk with the clients and assess their needs and risk for unhealthy behaviors. Then I would inform them on ways to be healthier on a budget. I would also explain the importance of exercise

Format of reflection: Each team member should reflect independently on these three questions. Have you really addressed all these issues in forming your project or have you focused too much on program steps without evidence?
