As we read, we will also focus on essential English skills necessary for both a life-time of success as well as passing the English II EOC test. These skills include but are not limited to: comprehension, literary concepts, word work (AKA: vocabulary), grammar, usage, mechanics, and, of course, composition.
The second trimester is our last big push to help all sophomores achieve success on the English II EOC test. Our course is divided into three main units. In Unit 1 we will focus on analyzing the poetic devices found in the Bible. In Unit 2, we will get to read the disturbing and powerful Night by Elie Wiesel. Then, in Unit 3 we will read the classic drama Antigone by Sophocles. As we read, we will also focus on essential English skills necessary for both a life-time of success as well as passing the English 2 EOC test. These skills include but are not limited to: comprehension, literary concepts, word work (AKA: vocabulary), grammar, usage, mechanics, and, of course, composition.
